Series: DGM
Summary: Reever decides to nudge Komui out of the closet, one baby step at a time.
Notes/Warnings: Slight OOCness, beware. Also, I don't actually think Komui's gay, I just find the thought highly amusing. Finished 12/8/08
Disclaimer: I wish I owned DGM. But I don't…oh well.
For the third time that morning, Komui Lee was sipping a cappuccino with one hand and stroking Reever Wenham's hair with the other. Needless to say, this made Reever a little uncomfortable.
"You're such a fantastic science department head," Komui gushed. "Much better than I ever was."
Yeah, I'll bet, Reever grumbled inwardly. Yet somehow the nutcase gets promoted to Supervisor. The world works in mysterious ways…
There was something Reever had been meaning to get off his chest. Something that was, okay, maybe a little personal. But if Komui touched him one more time—
The hand moved to rest on his shoulder. That does it. "Y'know, Supervisor…" Reever began, trying to sound casual. "I don't mean to offend you or anything, but…well. Has it ever crossed your mind that you might be…uh…gay?"
There was a beat.
Komui eyed his subordinate over the rim of his mug. "Where did you get an idea like that?"
"Well," Reever mumbled, "for starters, your hat is perfectly coordinated with your outfit. And you could say it's more… 'chic' than utilitarian."
"So what?" Komui sniffed indignantly. "You're just jealous!"
Reever rolled his eyes. "There's also the fact that I haven't seen you show any interest in anyone with two X-chromosomes, ever."
"So what?" Now Komui crossed his arms. "When you have a sister like my darling Lenalee, it's hard to find anyone who even comes close to those standards!"
Reever paused, thinking. So far, he hadn't really proved anything, just that his boss might be metrosexual or have a sister complex. Was it time to bring out the heavy artillery?
Yes. Oh yes it was.
"And then there's…" Reever cleared his throat, then said discreetly, "…the time I heard you having phone sex with Branch Head Bak."
Komui spurted out a mix of whipped cream and hot beverage, some of which got on Reever's lab coat. The Aussie stared blankly at his superior, ticked off and awaiting a reply.
"…What exactly did you hear?" muttered Komui, looking from side to side.
"Uh, the part that went something along the lines of 'Oh yes, Bak-chan, that's it! Ooh, keep going!'…Yeah. So. I reeaally don't wanna repeat any more after that."
Komui's cheeks were turning beet-red. He tapped his fingers on one arm, then huffed defiantly. "That never happened."
"…If you say so, Supervisor." Reever smirked knowingly. "Oh, and one more thing?"
"What is it?"
"Could you stop flirting with me during work hours? It's pretty distracting, and there's probably loads of things you should be doing instead."
Komui stepped into his office and promptly slammed the door.
And Reever sighed, throwing his hands in the air. Someday he'll thank me. Someday.
