Taking for Granted
Zero glared at Kuran as he talked to Yuuki. 'It wasn't fair' he thought bitterly, what did Kuran have that made him so special, his politeness was obviously fake, how was he the only one who saw that! He was a vampire, and not just any vampire, a pureblood, the worst kind of vampire there was! Purebloods only cared for themselves, playing cruelly with the lives around them. He hated Kuran, for his pureblood status, his fake politeness, his annoying groupies, but most of all he hated that Kuran made Yuuki happier than he ever could.
Zero hated that Kuran be with her when he never could, he would descend to level E someday and he was more of a threat to Yuuki than a protecter. He hated it, all of it. Yuuki liked Kuran, that was something he couldn't deny, and though it pained him to admit Kuran could take care of her better than he ever could, as long as he was willing to not turn her, Kuran could provide comfort, love, and a home. It might seem like he was looking to far into the future for someone his age, but that was the problem, the fact that he didn't have a future made him think about it a lot.
He would often wonder about Yuuki's, Cross's, his Master's futures, hell! Even Kuran's future. He would never have one so it was natural that he was curious. Zero would sometimes find himself contemplating he would do if he did somehow manage to live, but he would shake himself out of those thoughts whenever he caught himself thinking about them, after all there was no point in hoping in what would never be. Zero almost laughed, if he was lucky he would die before he was level E, at least then he could die as himself, and not some mindless beast.
"Zero? Are you all right?", Zero jerked his head and saw both Yuuki and Kuran staring at him. Zero forced down an blush, mentally kicking himself, he shouldn't let himself get so out of it in front of vampires! And he called himself a hunter, Zero almost cursed out loud. "I'm fine" Zero replied stiffly, then glared at Kaname, "you should get to class", Kaname looked coolly at him "yes, I suppose I should" he smiled at Yuuki, "good evening Yuuki", then nodded to Zero "Kiryu".
After Kaname had walked away Yuuki immediately began to question Zero, "Zero really, what's wrong?", Zero rolled his eyes "nothing I'm fine, I just spaced out", Yuuki pouted " but you never space out", "it was nothing, let it go", Yuuki sighed, she really wasn't going to get anything out of him was she.
