He didn't deserve her. Hermione Granger. The smartest, wittiest, kindest person you would ever meet in love with a man who treats her with nothing but indifference. Ron was unaware of Harry's feelings towards his fiancé. He'd loved her ever since that very first day at Platform 9 & 3/4. He should have acted on it before Ron had stolen his chance and Hermione's heart.
Sometimes he hated Ron for stealing the one true love of his life. But he never said anything. He didn't want anything to in any way break apart him and the first friend he had ever had. That's why he'd went along with him treating everyone badly. That's why he'd let her fall for him.
But he was always there for her. The night Ron had broke her heart. He was her shoulder to cry on. Her friend. They both had known there was something there. But then he'd seen how happy Hermione was with Ron. And he'd let her go.
Stupid mistake.
He'd seen Ginny and used her, simply for a mere distraction from the green eyed monster lurking in his belly whenever Hermione smiled or laughed at, cried for Ron. But he'd stayed with Ginny, told himself he didn't care, he must not care.
Stupid mistake.
And sometimes, even to this day, he'd hate himself for that mistake. Even after three kids with Ginny, they could have been Hermione's children. They could have lived happily ever after. But instead she's stuck with a man who treats her with no respect or affection.
Stupid mistakes were made. And they both knew what they could have been together. They were such a good match. Everyone saw it.
"I love her... As a sister."
No. That had been a lie. And why had he lied? Because he was two scared to lose Ron. And 19 years later, their eyes still met. And they knew they both still loved each other. But it was far too late to act upon it.
19 years too late...
