It was a warm summer night in Patch, Yang about to start her final year at Signal Academy in just a few weeks with her little sister Ruby starting at the same school at the same time.

The sisters and their father were at home comfortably watching some TV, Yang seated in one of the chairs by herself while Ruby lied down with her head on Taiyang's lap, the father figure more than proud of his two daughters. All was quiet and peaceful until a white and red clad figure with messy dark hair crashed through the front door, landing face-first on the floor.

In an instant, all three faces snapped towards the unexpected noise and the sisters bore shocked expressions while Tai sighed angrily and shook his head. "Qrow, what the hell, man?"

A loud belch answered followed by a chuckle. "Those were real good." More chuckling. "On the way down and up."

"Uh, dad?" Ruby asked as she stood on the couch. "What's wrong with uncle Qrow?" The little reaper inquired, confused as to why her beloved uncle was acting so strangely.

"He uh…" Tai paused, reminding himself as to just who he was talking to while Qrow stood on shaky legs and stumbled towards an empty chair by the TV. "He just drank some funny juice, sweety. It's what makes him talk weird and walk stupid." Tai replied, sending another glare at his brother-in-law who slumped lazily in the upholstery and grinned to himself.

"Wha-what're we watchin'?" Qrow slurred out, staring at the television that had been turned off by Yang when she recognized who had burst in.

"The TV's off, Qrow." Yang pointed out, familiar with what her uncle had done to make him like this.

"Why would he think it's on?" The youngest of the group asked.

"It's the funny juice, sis." Her sibling answered.

"Oh. Can I have some?"

Yang started to snicker as Qrow slowly began sliding off the chair onto the floor with a stupid drunken grin on his face. "Not until you're older, honey." Tai replied.

It was in the following seconds that he heard the eight words he'd hoped never to hear from either of his daughters. "But I wanna be just like uncle Qrow!" Ruby exclaimed, jealous of her uncle's apparent giddiness as he chuckled, interrupted by the occasional belch.
