To us, you were the personification of the Goblin King. The way you carried yourself, the way you moved, sang, showed mischievousness, rancor, disbelief, persuasion, indifference and most of all class.
You took on the role and made it yours, for which we are grateful.
While you may not have understood at the time, or even later, the impact of your ability to bring this character to life, we understood….oh, yes, we got it.
We also got a small glimpse of the real David Bowie. You were a man of intention, professionalism and heart. Not every actor would have taken on this role or worked with Muppets.
Thank you David for taking on the challenge and performing it seriously with the attention it deserved. Thank you for writing songs especially for the movie. Thank you for bringing the Goblin King to life.
Now, with our writing skills we continue to keep him with us. Call him our muse, call him our alter ego, call him what you wish, but he remains eternally etched in our minds. We hope through our writing to continue to do him justice.
