Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender or 'Gotta Be Somebody' by Nickelback.
Hello lovelies! I was just sitting in my cozy Snuggie listening to my music when the aforementioned Nickelback song came on. And I thought... Toph ends the series without a significant other, unlike everyone else. So this one shot is for Toph!
Much love and cupcakes,

Gotta Be Somebody
You're sitting on a giant boulder in the middle of the Earth Kingdom. You don't know exactly where you are, you just know that you had to get away, and this is where your feet led you. All the lovesick couples- Sokka and Suki, Aang and Katara, Zuko and Mai- were driving you crazy. Sure, you can't see them, but you can still feel them. You can feel their hearts speed up and skip beats, and you can feel as they dance around each other. It was driving you crazy, and you didn't know why.
But as you sit, you come to understand why. Everyone has someone else. You had Sokka, for a while, but let's face it- you're no Suki. He doesn't like you like that, and you're sure he never will. You start to wonder if there will ever be someone for you. You start to wonder if you'll be alone. You start to wonder if you'll die a lonely, old woman. But that can't be true. Only terrible people end up alone, and though you've got some rough edges, you know you're not a terrible person. That means that there's gotta be somebody for you, wherever he is.
What will it feel like? You wonder. What does it feel like to be held by the one you love? What does it feel like, knowing that there's someone who counts on you and needs you? What does it feel like to wake up every morning with someone next to you? What does it feel like to have someone care?
A tear makes its way down your face. You quickly wipe it away.
After a few more minutes, you decide that you're ready to go back and face the lovesick couples. They'll never know that you had this moment of weakness. They'll just keep seeing you as you're sure everyone does- a rock that never breaks down, that never has a moment of self doubt, and that never, ever fantasizes about a silly little thing called love.
