Retrospective

I stare down the waterlogged streets of Cerulean City out of my bedroom window. No one will come to the Gym today. I know Daisy will come find me if a brave young trainer actually does.

Ahh. That reminds me of a boy I knew long ago, it seems. Back then, he would've gone plowing through a torrential downpour just to get to the next gym.

While I was traveling with him, no one aggravated me more. Sometimes one look was enough to set me off.

But when I went home to be a Gym Leader, I realized how lucky I'd been and how much I missed that boy.

There is another that I missed too. Tall and calm, his role was that of peacemaker, mentor, and friend. His meals were some of the best I've ever eaten. I miss this boy too, this boy who could have-should have- been my older brother.

But the first boy, the boy with the hat and the gloves and the mouse. He was special.

And though he's off in Unova, training Arceus knows what Pokemon, he'll always be in my heart.

I know I am in his.
