Life and Death

She walked into the moonlight, her eyes full of tears. The moonlit meadow reminded her of the times she spent with him. She collapsed; those times would never come back. She remembered their first time here, those times felt like so long ago. How he looked when he walked into the sunlight; she would never forget it. The shock she felt when he glittered; those times would never come back, they would be locked in her memories for the rest of her life. There was also the time when they had first met, when she had feared that he hated her. Now, she wished that that had been true, if he had hated her, it wouldn't have turned out like this. Then the day she met his family, the day he met her father, that was the real beginning of the danger. After the incident, he had sworn that he would always protect her, that he would always save her. This time, it had cost him his life, and it was all her fault. If she had not left her house, if she had not wanted to see him, he would still be alive. How she longed to see him, but never again, will he stand before her. How would she be able to live without him? She slowly stood up, was it him she saw on the other side of that river? She ran towards him, but no matter how long she ran, she never seemed to get any closer to him. She never noticed that there was no river, and that he was not there. Finally, she stopped, if she couldn't be near him when she was alive, she would join him. As she lifted her hands to her neck, the times that they spent together flashed into her mind. Her tears stopped, she couldn't do this to him. He had died so that she could live, despite the fact that living without him would be the hardest thing for her. After a few hours, she started walking, she staggered often, but she kept going on. She would live, to honour his wishes. She would fight the pain and the temptation to end her own life, for him.

Author's Note: This was written after I'd just finished reading Twilight, before I'd even started reading New Moon.
