nWo VS. WWF: The first Year
A/N This gets WWF through a solid year, in a not so detailed way.
The nWo did some great things for WCW, the angle gave Sting and Hogan new gimmicks, it gave two talented mic guys a lighter work load, the list goes on. But like all good things it had to end, but end isn't the right word is this case, because it didn't. We've had black and white, red and black, silver and black, and of course a butt load of rips offs.
Now a few years later, and hopefully a few years wiser, we're gearing up for the nWo to return to what it was, a cancer. In a stroke of genius by Vince, he has made the nWo a threat in two ways: 1. (Kayfabe) A group of outsiders who don't give a shit, and are trying to take over. 2. (Real life) A group of outsiders who want to hold back younger talent, so they can stay on top for years to come.
And if Vince's intense vignettes is any sign of how this thing is going to turn out, then it looks splendid (Splendid: word of the day). After seeing the nWo last night psyching out the crowd, I think it's good to have this slow setup for No Way Out. It leaves places to tease the fans.
If I were owner of the WWF what would I do with them? Glad you asked Cody. I would have the nWo come in the end and kick the living life out of Stone Cold, then align them with Jericho, see keeping the belt around Jericho's waist would be like the WWF trying to keep the belt on Spike Dudley with no build up. The nWo wants the belt on someone who can't draw as good as The Rock or SCSA. They're cancer, and cancer claims everything before it goes for the kill (the world title). They should take out each quality opponent for the title, but you see the tighter they grasp, the more escape the nWo. Chris Beniot, Rhyno, & others come back to a desert covered with tombstones.
While all this is happening Austin and Rocky could be doing Dumb & Dumber 2 for all anyone cares, but story line was the nWo has taken them out. The APA and others can help elevate Beniot, Rhyno, and maybe RVD to Jericho level. While the locker room counters the nWo maybe somehow what is left of the WWF can win.
So the nWo is defeated, but then Steve and Rock return, and one of them reclaims the world title from Beniot/Rhyno/RVD, and the three don't want to go back to midcard hell, so they align with a broken down Vince to bring back the nWo. He's going to stay out of wrestling for a while, so they get the next best thing ... Easy E!
After bringing the band back together (now with RVD, Rhyno, and Beniot, minus Jericho) the nWo easily gets the title back, but there is trouble on who to give it to, Nash, Hall, and Hogan each back up a different new recruit for the title, so a three corners match is planned for WM 19, but Flair makes it a four corners match, with his surprise entry to the match.
Main Event rolls around, and Jericho is Flair's little buddy. And Chris Jericho becomes the first ever second time Uni-champ. Well, that is about a years worth of WWF programing, other major feuds included Kurt Angle VS. HHH "You got my wife pregnant, bastard!" And Goldust VS. Regal "Who acts more homosexual?"
