Today is the day that Jason gets to choose his starter pokemon at Professor Rowan's pokemon research lab in Sandgem Town!

Episode 1: A Journey Begins!

"Jason! Wake up or else you'll be late!" Grace shouted from the bottom floor of the house.

"Five more minutes." Jason mumbled from his bed, pulling the blanket over his head.

Jason found it hard to wake up especially since he had been up so late last night. He had been watching re-runs of last years Sinnoh League championships. Lucas and his Infernape had taken home the crown, just like he watched over and over again. He would be on that stage one day! He had grown up watching every Sinnoh League, studying, watching every move and decision carefully, and now was the day he would finally get his own pokemon and be able to achieve his dream.

However, it could wait five more minutes while he slept. He was going to be sleeping in tents and pokemon centers for a while, so he wanted to enjoy his bed.

"Don't make me send Glameow up their young man!" He heard his mom yell from below.

Jason ignored and pulled his blanket further over his head. However, sure enough his mother wasn't lying. He felt scratching at his exposed feet and retracted them under the blanket.

"Glameow leave me alone." He mumbled to the feline pokemon.

"Meowww." His mothers pokemon purred walking along his body up to his head.

"Glameow!" the pokemon purred insistently, burrowing her paws over where his face was under the blanket.

Jason tried to move to where his mothers pokemon would leave him alone, but decided against it, knowing Glameow was persistent. He rolled around and tossed the blanket off his head and was greeted by Glameow standing over his chest. He sighed and pet the feline pokemon behind its ears.

"Fine, fine go tell Mom that I'm awake and getting dressed."

"Glameow!" His mothers partner said happily.

Glameow darted out of the room and down the steps to his mother's side. He swung his legs around the side of the bed and got up with a huge stretch.

"Gahhhh, today is the day!" He said excitedly running to his window.

He tossed the window open and took in the beautiful Twinleaf Town air. He took in a deep breath and gazed at the great view out the window. He had lived in the tiny town his whole life, and today was the day he'd finally be able to leave and see the whole region! Mt. Coronet, Veilstone City, Celestic Town, Snowpoint City, all the amazing places he would get to see ran through his mind, bringing a huge smile to his face.

"HERE I COME SINNOH REGION!" He yelled loud and proud out the window.

A few Starly darted from the top of his house, and some people stopped but they knew this was the norm for him. He smiled and looked down the road and saw someone speeding towards his house. He recognized his best-friend Verity right away and waved to her.

"Verity hey how's it going!?" He yelled from his window waving.

His friend leaned down and caught her breath. Verity had been Jason's friend from school as long as he could remember. Her mom was a seriously powerful trainer back in her day, and Verity was setting out on her journey the same day as he was. She had brown hair, that she kept tied up with a bright blue hair tie. She dressed in a similar way, with a blue shirt, and white shorts with grey legging underneath. She looked ready to get going, she had her white bag slung across her shoulder, and was in her red running shoes.

He didn't know why she was here, they weren't supposed to leave for Sandgem Town yet.

She looked up at him with wide eyes. "Jason, what are you doing!? You aren't even dressed yet, you look like you just got out of bed!" She yelled up to him.

Jason laughed and rubbed the back of his head. "Haha, yeah because I actually just did. Glameow had to wake me up. Why are you dressed already? What time is it?" He yelled back down.

"Ughhhhh Jason we need to be at Professor Rowan's Lab by 9 o'clock!" She yelled to him.

Jason rubbed his chin. "9 o'clock yeah I remember now. What time is it?" He asked her.

"8:45! I was waiting for you, now come on we need to leave NOW!" She yelled as loud as she could.

"WHAT!? 8:45!? I'LL BE RIGHT DOWN!" He yelled running towards his closet.

He was going to be late! Five more minutes really must have added up. He remembered hitting his alarm more then a few times. Verity was a huge nut about being on time for things, so he knew he needed to get going before he got clonked on the head. He also didn't want to get left with no choice on his starter. Today was the most important day of his future and he slept in! He grabbed his already pre-packed bag off his chair as he tried to drag on his black pants. He almost tripped over his desk chair into his TV but managed to stabilize himself. He pulled around his blue jacket and zip it up tight. It was just the end of winter, so it was still pretty cold outside. He grabbed his white scarf and managed to tie it around his neck and bolt down the steps.

"Finally awake I see Verity is outside and-." His mom started.

"She's outside and annoyed I'm late I know. I'll be back before I leave mom see you later!" He yelled grabbed his white hat, with a red brim and blue pokemon league logo inside.

He heard his mom yell something about being careful on the icy route's, but he could barely hear. He got out onto his porch and ran into Verity who was tapping her foot impatiently.

"Finally! We have ten minutes, come on!" She said, grabbing Jason's arm and darting off the porch.

The pair made it to Verity's house a few down from Jason's and jumped onto their bikes they had parked at her house the night before. The two friends zoomed down the streets of Twinleaf Town. It wasn't a far ride to Sandgem Town, but the pair peddled as quick as they could through the streets and soon they were out of Twinleaf Town.

Jason looked over to Verity and yelled. "So still set on Piplup!?" He yelled over the wind in their ears.

She nodded her head as she peddled. "Yeah, how about you? Still want Chimchar like Lucas!?" She asked him.

Jason nodded his head. Ever since he had watched Lucas and his Infernape win the Sinnoh League last year, he knew exactly who his starter was going to be. He knew Chimchar was his preference, but at that moment he didn't care what pokemon he got, he just needed to get to Professor Rowan's Lab!

"You bet! But we won't get anything if we don't hurry come on!" He said peddling faster then he ever had before in his life.

He pulled away from Verity who he heard screaming at him from behind. "Jason, I know we're almost late but be careful the routes are icy!" He heard as her voice faded away.

He barely heard her as he zoomed through Sandgem Town towards where he knew the Professor's Lab was. Sandgem Town was a stones throw away from Twinleaf, so they had gotten there within five minutes. Now it was just a matter of going through all the twists and turns to make it to the Rowan Pokemon Lab.

'Ha! There it is, finally!" He said, seeing the turn he needed to make.

He zoomed forward, however when he had to make the turn, his mom and Verity's warning had finally come back to him. The roads and routes still weren't completely cleaned up of ice and bits of snow from the hard winter. When he went to make the turn, he was going way to fast, and next thing he knew his bike skidded and flew out from under him and he was skidding down the road.

"Jason!" He heard Verity yell from behind him.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!" He yelled as he tumbled down the road, finally coming to a stop.

He was on his back, his bones completely aching, looking up at the sky.

He sighed. "I should listen to my Mom and Verity more." He muttered.

Suddenly the sun was blocked out from above him by a shadow. He saw a pair or green eyes stare down at him, with a pokemon he recognized as a Turtwig on his shoulder.

"Hm, late as usual I see." A deep voice said.

Jason recognized the voice and shot up to a sitting position.

"Oh wow, hey Nolan." He said looking up at the boy.

Nolan was also a kid Jason and Verity knew from Twinleaf Town. He had spiked up green hair, and green eyes, and was dressed in a tree green and black winter coat and white pants. He had a steely gaze, that kind of made Jason feel uncomfortable at times, but over the years he had gotten used to it. He was wearing a white scarf and was staring at him with hands in his pockets.

He shook his head. "It's just like you to be late for something like this Jason. Don't you take anything seriously?" He asked.

Jason rolled his eyes. "It's better then having a stick up my butt my whole life."

Nolan growled and turned away from him. "You'll never get anywhere as a trainer without strength and discipline, both of which you seem to lack. I showed up early and got the strongest pokemon there." He said gesturing towards the Turtwig on his shoulder.

"Tur, Turtwig!" The small green pokemon said toughly.

Jason got to his feet and stared daggers at the boy. "It doesn't matter which pokemon you pick. Any pokemon can be strong with the love, support and friendship of its trainer!" Jason yelled back at him.

"Hmmph, did your hero Lucas say that?" He said turning around to face him again.

"Yes! And he's a league champion so that method obviously worked out for him!" Jason shouted to him.

There eyes locked and it was if a spark of electricity was running through both of them. Jason was about to shout something else at him when he heard a bike come up behind him.

"Jason are you okay? I saw your bike go down around the turn and-. Hey Nolan." She said looking at the green haired boy.

Nolan stumbled for a second. "Huh? Verity." He said, seeing the brown-haired girl.

Verity stepped up next to him. "Nolan the three of us haven't been together like this in forever. Remember when we were younger? Jason and I are traveling together, why don't you come with us!?" She asked happily.

Jason knew her attempt was useless, but Verity always held ouy hope for Nolan. The green haired boys momentary surprise at seeing Verity faded and he stuck his hands back in his pockets and turned away. He shook his head.

"No thanks, you'll only hold me back. Especially Jason and his stupid 'friendship' training. I plan on winning the Sinnoh League and the only way to do that is to make my pokemon as strong as possible." He said, turning to look at Jason one last time.

"I don't want to waste my time with weaklings. I'll see you around Verity. Come on Turtwig." He said turning to walk away.

"Weakling!?" Jason shouted, stepping forward only to be stopped by Verity.

"Jason don't, it's no use." She said with a sigh.

Jason watched the green haired boy walked away and turned his head. "Hm, I don't know why you even try with him anymore Verity." He said to his friend.

Verity watched Nolan walk away and sighed again shaking her head. "I don't know either…" She said sadly.

Jason felt bad seeing her so sad. Even though him and Nolan stopped being friends a few years ago, and their little triangle of friends was broken up, he knew Verity still held out hope of their old friend returning to his old self. Jason stepped up and put a relaxing hand on Verity's shoulder.

"Hey, don't worry about him now. This is supposed to be a fun day, you'll be a top coordinator in no time!" Jason said with a smile.

Verity sighed and turned to Jason with a smile. "You're right. Come on! I wanna meet my pokemon." She said happily.

"Oh, so you're the other new trainers?" A friendly voice said from behind them.

Jason and Verity both turned around to see an older girl walking towards them with grocery bags. She was without a doubt older then them, looking to be about 17 or 18. She was wearing a white scarf and a pink and dark blue dress with a long coat. She had on a white hat, covering her whole head, with blue hair spilling out from it. She finished it off with a yellow travel bag slung across her shoulder, as well as holding the grocery bags.

Verity froze, staring at the girl like she was a mythical pokemon that hadn't been seen in hundreds of years, so he spoke up.

"Yup that's us! My names Jason Platinum, and this is Verity. We're here for our starters!" Jason said excitedly.

The girl laughed and smiled at the two of them. "Of course, it's nice to meet the two of you. I'm Professor oak's assistant my names-."

"You're DAWN! THE TOP COORDINATOR!" Verity said, sounding completely ecstatic.

Jason took a closer look at the girl and mentally slapped himself for not remembering! It really was Dawn. She was famous for winning last year's Sinnoh Grand Festival, and she also happened to be Verity's all-time favorite coordinator. Verity looked at Dawn with stars in her eyes and shook her hand so hard I think there was a chance she could have broken her heroes hand.

Dawn to her credit must get this a lot, because after Verity almost broke her hand she pulled back and laughed. "Haha, yes that's me. I'm taking a little break from contests right now to help Professor Rowan." She explained.

Verity was on cloud-nine. "I'm your BIGGEST fan! Your performance in the appeal round of the grand festival was so inspiring! The way your Empoleon showed its power and grace, how you brought out the best of your pokemon! I wanna be just like you!" She said, with the stars in her eyes again.

Dawn smiled and seemed to go a little red. "Haha, thank you so much. I'm glad that I could inspire you. As long as you believe in your pokemon and trust them I'm sure you'll be a top coordinator too."

Jason took a step behind Verity, because it looked like she was about to feint. "Wow, thank you so much! You have no idea how much that means!" She said excitedly.

Jason couldn't help but smile at how happy his friend was at that moment. He knew she had secretly been watching and studying pokemon contests for years ever since the two of them had watched one of the old videos of his own mother competing in the Grand Festival years ago. Verity was star-struck after watching the video and had been studying and watching as much about contests as she could since then. Now that the two of them were 12, and getting their own pokemon her dream, like his own could finally start.

Dawn smiled and opened the door to the Rowan Pokemon Lab. "Well the two of you can't start your journeys until you get your pokemon. Follow me and we can get you all set." She said with a smile.

"Thank you so much!" Verity and Jason both said at the same time. Excited for the journey to come.

"The two of you are both late you know." Professor Rowan asked the two of them.

Verity glared at Jason for a moment before the two of them both looked down at the floor in-front of the Professor.

"We're sorry Professor." Verity said sadly.

Jason looked over at Verity and then frowned. He looked up at the Professor. "If you want to blame someone Professor blame me. I slept in too late and if not for Verity I probably still would be! It's my fault we're late." He said looking down.

He saw Verity flash a small smile. The Professor stared at Jason for a moment with a hard look. Just when Jason though that the Professor was going to give him a scolding, the old man smiled and gruffly laughed.

"Ha don't worry lad. That was very responsible of you taking on the blame like that. Now, Dawn please bring out our two remaining pokemon." He asked the blue haired girl.

Dawn nodded and set her bag down before walking down a hallway. Professor Rowan turned back to the two of them.

"Now, before we do anything else, I have something for the both of you. Here are your pokedex's and pokeballs." He said walking over to the table behind him.

He came back and handed to Jason first his red pokedex, along with a handful of pokeballs. Jason looked at the pokedex with complete awe, this was finally the moment. A pokedex also served as a trainer id, which means he was now an official pokemon trainer! It wouldn't be long now before he got to compete in the Sinnoh League, and finally achieve his dream of being on the biggest stage of them all.

Rowan handed a pink pokedex and a handful of pokeballs to Verity as well. Verity seemed to have the same look on her face as Jason. Both young people realized that the road to all their dreams coming true was all going to happen today!

Rowan cleared his throat to get the two young trainers attention. "Now incase you don't know, your pokedex counts as your trainer id. You can use it to register for the Sinnoh League, or Grand Festival." He explained to them.

The two nodded. "Right!" They said together.

Rowan smiled at the two excited young people. "Now, I ask you this. What is it you both hope to accomplish from your journey's?" He asked them.

Before Jason could answer Verity spoke up with a fire in her eyes. "I'm going to be a top coordinator! I want to compete and win the Grand Festival! Then after that, I'm going to go to other regions and win contest there, and more Grand Festivals." She said excitedly pumping her fists.

Rowan smiled and nodded. "Ah just like young Dawn. It's good to set yourself such great goals. How about you Jason?" He asked, turning to Jason now.

Jason's eyes flared up like Verity's. "I'm going to win the Sinnoh League! After that I'll go win other Pokemon League's and keep getting stronger and meet tons of new pokemon." He said with a fire in his eyes and heart.

Rowan smiled and looked between the two of them. "It's so nice to see young people so passionate about their goals. Be sure that after you say goodbye to your families, to register for the Sinnoh League and the Grand Festival at the pokemon center." He informed the two of them.

Verity and Jason both nodded. "Don't worry Professor, I'll make sure this one doesn't forget." She said looking over at Jason with a smirk.

"Hey, I would never forget to do that!" Jason defended himself.

"Just like you wouldn't forget to wake up the morning you get your first pokemon?" She said with her hands on her hips and a smirk.

Jason sighed, and the Professor and Verity both had a good laugh. It was contagious and soon Jason was laughing as well. The three laughed until they heard Dawn rolling a table into the main lab. When Verity and Jason both saw the table, they looked with huge smiles on their faces.

"Here you go Professor. So, are you two ready?" She said gesturing towards the table.

On the table were the last two starter pokemon Professor Rowan had. The blue water type pokemon Piplup, and the orange fire type Chimchar. Jason thought it was good luck that Nolan had selected a Turtwig so that now her and Verity could both get the pokemon that they preferred. The two pokemon both got excited and the Chimcar bounced up and down with excitement, while the Piplup had seemed to already lock eyes with Verity.

The Professor cleared his throat. "Now, since the one boy Nolan came through earlier we only have two left. The water type Piplup." He said gesturing towards the small blue penguin pokemon.

The Piplup stood up tall and pounded its tiny fin onto its chest. "Pip, Piplup!" It said happily.

"And the fire type Chimchar." He said holding his hand out towards the orange monkey pokemon.

"Have the two of you made a decision?" He asked the two young trainers.

Jason and Verity both looked at each other with a smile. Jason gestured towards the table. "Go ahead Verity, you can go first." He said with a smile.

Verity nodded and slowly walked up to the Piplup. She lowered herself down to its eye level and smiled. "Piplup my names Verity, and I choose you. We're going to be best-friends and become top coordinators!" She said happily.

"Piplup, Piplup!" The pokemon yelled happily, hoping onto Verity's arms.

Verity laughed and gave her new pokemon a huge hug. "Haha, it's official! Thanks, Piplup." She said to her new partner.

Jason smiled at his best-friend being so happy. She got back up and looked at him. "Your turn now Jason." She said happily.

Jason looked to the table and slowly walked over to the Chimchar. The pokemon seemed to get even more excited, doing a backflip and looking at Jason with excitement. Just like Verity did, he knelt to eye level with the pokemon.

"Hey Chimchar, my names Jason. Will you be my partner? We're going to travel all over and get really strong and win the Sinnoh League! What do you say?" Jason said holding his arm out.

Chimchar looked at his arm and did an excited backflip. "Chimchar!" It said excitedly leaping up Jason's arm and onto his shoulder.

Jason scratched the pokemon under the chin and pumped his fist. "Yes! Alright! It's finally happening!" He said excitedly.

The journey for the two friends was finally about to begin. Jason stood up and looked over at Verity who had a similar amazed look on her face.

Jason couldn't contain his excitement any longer, him and his best-friend both finally had a pokemon.

"Hey Verity!" He said to her excitedly.

She turned to him with Piplup in her arms. "Yeah Jason?" She said with a smile.

Jason smirked and pointed. "I've waited a long time for this, I challenge you to a battle!"

Verity smirked herself and Piplup perked up in her arms. "Haha you're on, let's do this!" She said excitedly.

Jason knew as they traveled together, it was going to be the first of many battles the two had against each other. He wanted to win the first!

XxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX

"The battle will be one on one! The battle will be over when one sides pokemon is unable to continue!" Dawn announced from the center of Professor Rowan's battlefield.

Jason was buzzing as he watched Chimchar bounce up and down on his side of the battlefield. Verity was on the other side across from him with Piplup out in-front of her, with similar excitement. He felt his stomach buzzing slightly, this was going to be his first battle ever, his path to achieving his dreams started here. He was glad it was against Verity, someone who he knew. However, he also knew that she would never let him hear the end of it if she won this battle, so he better win it.

"Hey Jason, ready to get your butt whooped!?" Verity yelled across from the field.

Jason smirked and yelled. "Nope! I've been waiting my whole life for this, ready Chimchar!?" He yelled to his starter.

"Chim, chim, char!" His fire type yelled excitedly brightening its tail light.

Verity did the same and yelled. "How about you Piplup!?" She yelled.

"Lup, Pip, Piplup!" Her water type cried jumping up and down with excitement.

Dawn looked at the two with happy eyes and waved her arms down. "Okay, battle begin!"

Insert: Battle Cry- Stand Up, from Pokemon Diamond Pearl Galactic Battles.

Jason knew he needed to get the first move, he had gotten Chimchar's moves from his pokedex and was ready.

"Chimchar use scratch!" He ordered.

Chimchar darted with claws out towards Piplup!

"Piplup, dodge it and use peck!" Verity ordered.

"Intercept it with scratch!" Jason retaliated.

Piplup dodged the first attack and its beak grew and went to attack. Chimchar followed Jason's orders and intercepted the attack with scratch. Soon the two Sinnoh starters were duking it out at close range Piplup, trying to use its beak to land a hit, and Chimchar trying to get a part of Piplup.

Jason saw Verity smirk from across the field. "Got him right where I want him! Piplup use bubblebeam!" Verity ordered.

"Chimchar get out of there!" Jason ordered as soon as he heard the order.

Piplup powered up its attack and launched a torrent of bubbles towards Chimchar but Chimchar just barely managed to leap backwards and dodge! Chimchar landed on its feet with a backflip.

"Chimchar, dig!" Jason ordered from his side.

Chimchar leaped up and dove into the ground under the battlefield. Jason thought he'd have a moment to strategize while Chimchar was underground, however Verity had different plans.

"Piplup use bubblebeam into the hole!" She ordered.

Her pokemon ran over to the whole Chimchar had dug and unleashed another powerful bubblebeam into the hole.

"Chimchar get out!" Jason yelled, hoping his pokemon could hear him.

No matter if he heard Jason or not, Chimchar burst out of the hole with a puff of smoke and got shot into the air!

"Chimchar! Steady yourself and use flame-wheel on the way down!" Jason ordered as his pokemon was in the air.

Chimchar looked damaged from the bubblebeam but fought through it. On his way down, he curled up and a wheel of fire incased itself and slammed down into Piplup before Verity could issue an order! A huge puff of smoke went up on the field, and after it cleared Piplup and Chimchar were both standing in-front of there respective trainers. Both new pokemon were panting but looked to be having the time of their lives. As did the two young trainers commanding them.

Jason smiled over at his best-friend. "Hey Verity, you know I can't let you win our first battle right!? I'll never hear the end of it!" He yelled over.

She laughed and smiled back at him. "You sure won't! And that's why there's no way I'm losing this! Piplup, use pound!" She yelled out.

"Chimchar you use scratch!" Jason ordered with a smile on his face. He was truly having the time of his life.

The two pokemon charged and clashed in the middle of the field! Piplup, and Chimchar both scratch and pounded at each other with as much power as they could muster. Chimchar got a part of Piplup's stomach, but Piplup got a part of Chimchar's face and the two pokemon got sent flying back towards their trainers.

"Chimchar are you okay!?"

"Piplup, can you still battle!?"

Chimchar and Piplup both shakily got to their feet with determined looks on their faces. Chimchar looked back at Jason and stuck its thumb up.

"Chim, Char!" It said excitedly.

"Pip, Piplup!" Verity's partner responded saluting with its flipper.

The two best-friends stared at each other with smirk smiles on their faces.

"Chimchar use dig!" Jason yelled out.

Chimchar quickly burrowed its way underground.

"This again? Ha! Piplup use bubblebeam into the hole!" Verity ordered.

"Chimchar come up using Ember!" Jason yelled.

Piplup ran over to the whole and powered up its attack aimed at the hole Chimchar made. However, before it could attack Chimchar emerged in a blaze of fire! It launched an Ember attack at Piplup from behind. Piplup may have had the type advantage but the Ember was seriously powerful and sent the blue pokemon back.

"Now finish it with scratch!" Jason yelled shoving his fist forward.

"No! Piplup use pound!" Verity ordered quickly.

Chimchar charged forward with its claws ready, but just before it could attack both the Pokémon's attacks collided and sent the two of them flying backwards! Both pokemon skidded and landed in-front of their trainers.

Both with swirls in their eyes.

"Both pokemon are unable to battle! Therefore, this battle is a draw!" Dawn yelled from the middle of the field.

Jason sighed and looked down, he thought he'd be upset but he couldn't help but smile. Battling with Chimchar was completely exhilarating, and he knew he had a lot more battles to come. He walked over and knelt next to his starter who had come through and looked up at him upset.

"Chimchar…" It said sadly.

Jason laughed and scratched behind his pokemons ear. "Hey don't worry Chimchar. We have a lot more battles left to go. We're not going to win all of them, but as long as you give it your all I'm proud of you!" He said with a huge smile.

"Chim, Chimchar!" His pokemon said more excitedly, climbing up to his shoulder. Jason laughed and scratched its chin.

"And don't you worry! We'll train hard and next time we'll beat Piplup and Verity!" He said excitedly.

"Haha we'll be even stronger next time too." Verity said coming up behind him.

Piplup seemed to be feeling better and happily rested on her shoulder as well. Jason smiled at the two of them.

"That was a great battle, you were awesome Piplup." Jason complimented the water-type.

"Piplup, Pip!" It said excitedly waving at him.

Jason looked at Verity. "And you were pretty good too I guess." He said jokingly.

Verity rolled her eyes with a smile. "Thankssss, you and Chimchar were great too." She said with a smile rubbing under his pokemons chin.

The two best-friends sighed and looked at each other. Jason spoke up first with a huge smile. "I am so pumped! Are you ready!?" He asked his friend.

Verity pumped her fist in the air. "You bet! Come on, we should get back home. The sooner we do the sooner we can officially set out." She said with a smile.

The two friends said their goodbyes to Professor Rowan and Dawn, Verity nearly fainted when Dawn complimented her battling skills. The two walked out of the lab, and over to where Verity had parked her bike when they first arrived. The pair returned their starters to their pokeballs and looked at the one bike locked outside the lab. Both sighed, and Verity looked over at Jason.

"Did you look at your bike after you wiped out?" She asked him with narrowed eyes.

Jason chuckled nervously and rubbed the back of his head. He looked over to the side of the building where his bike had landed. He saw that it was in complete shambles. A wheel had popped off, and in the time since they had arrived it seemed that some wild-pokemon had gotten to it, because it seemed like it was damaged, scratched, bitten to the point where the set didn't exactly look safe to sit on.

He looked over at Verity with a nervous laugh. "Ahaha, yeah that doesn't exactly look rideable anymore." He said nervously.

Verity face-palmed and sighed. "Ughhh, come on. You ride, and I'll stand on the back." She said gesturing towards her bike.

"You can ride, and I'll just hold on-."

"Jason you and me both know you're to heavy and you'll end up pulling me off." She said with an annoyed look.

Jason chuckled nervously again and rubbed the back of his head. "Haha, thanks you're the best Verity."

She rolled her eyes as Jason mounted the bike. "I know I am."

XxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxX

"And then Chimchar popped out of the hole and used Ember! Him and Piplup went at each other and shot each other back! It ended in a draw, but it was so much fun Mom!" Jason exclaimed spinning in the kitchen chair.

"Chimchar!" His partner said happily looking up from a bowl of pokemon food.

His mother laughed as she put pots and pans into the sink, with Glameow peacefully on the windowsill. She turned back and sat with a cup of coffee across from her son.

"That's great dear. How about Verity? Is she still going through with being a coordinator?" She asked him.

Jason nodded his head. "Yeah she even met Dawn her favorite coordinator! She's more excited then ever for it. Have you… you know been talking to her mom?" He asked.

Grace nodded her head. "I've been bringing it up here and there. Diamond is a stubborn one though. Also, in the end, it's not my place to tell her what to do with her daughter. It's up to Verity to tell her mom herself." She explained.

Jason sighed and looked down at his cocoa. Verity's mother was more then insistent on her becoming a trainer and challenging the gyms like she did. Her mother won the Sinnoh League and was one of the best trainers that Sinnoh ever saw, she almost had a spot in the Elite Four. However, when Verity saw the old video of his mom performing in contest she fell in love with them. The first time she brought up the idea of being a coordinator to her mother last year, she had to spend the night at Jason's the two argued so bad. Diamond, Verity's mom, was a nice lady, but just like Verity she was very persistent and arguing with either of them was like arguing with a brick wall. So that night it was basically as if two brick walls were arguing with each other.

Jason decided that he would have to relay all of this to Verity. He was finished his lunch; his bag was packed with all he needed and Chimchar was ready to go. Grace sighed and smiled. She knew that this moment had been coming, she got up and hugged her son.

"You be careful now dear and look out for Verity. I know she's tough, but you keep an eye on her!" He said, pointing her finger at him.

Jason chuckled and nodded giving his mom a hug. "Don't worry mom, we'll be just fine. Before you know it, you'll have your tickets to the Sinnoh League in the mail!" He said happily.

His mother sighed and nodded. "Just enjoy yourself and stay safe. You'll be fantastic dear." She said with one last smile.

Jason smiled and pulled on his new travel bag. He had some small pots and pans inside, changes of clothes, and his sleeping bag, along with a few other essentials. He wouldn't be living in luxury, but as long as he had his pokemon and friends with him, he would be just fine. He smiled at his mom and looked over to Chimchar.

"Ready Chimchar!?" He said excitedly.

"Chimchar!" His pokemon said excitedly climbing onto his shoulder.

He ran to the door and turned back to his mom and Glameow. "Bye mom! Bye Glameow! I'll call as soon as I get to the first pokemon center!" He said running out the door into the shining sun of the Sinnoh Region.

He took in a deep breath of fresh air and looked down the road, then up to his partner. "How about it Chimchar, you ready?" He asked.

"Chim, chim, char!" His fire-type said excitedly doing a back flip, landing back on his shoulder.

He ran down the porch and towards Verity's house waving back to his mom one last time. He ran down the street and a few houses later he was at Verity's. With a smile on his face he walked up to the door and was about to knock on the door when he heard voices yelling from inside.

"NO! The answer is no Verity, I won't have you wasting your time on something so pointless!" He recognized Diamond's voice coming from the door.

Jason listened, and he heard his best-friend screaming back. "It's no pointless! It's what I want to do and I'm going to do it! I don't care what you say!" He heard Verity yell.

"I'm saving you from wasting away your time and talents! I'm telling you no because I care about you and don't want you to throw all of your talent away!" Diamond yelled back at her daughter.

"IF YOU CARED YOU'D SUPPORT ME! I'm going to be a Pokemon Coordinator, everyone thinks I can do it! Jason, Dawn, Ms. Grace, Professor Rowan, Piplup, Dad would too!" Verity yelled back.

Jason was shocked. Verity never brought up her dad, especially with her mother. Her mother didn't exactly sound pleased at that.

"Don't bring your father into this! The answer is NO, and you aren't going to change my mind!" She yelled back at Verity.

Like Jason thought before, two brick walls. Verity yelled back. "NO! I'm going to do it, and I don't care what you think! Next time you see me, it'll be on TV at the Grand Festival!"

Jason panicked when he heard rushed footsteps towards the door. Chimchar and him quickly backed up and off the porch. They watched as Verity opened the door and violently slammed it behind her. Jason looked at his best-friends face and felt himself frown. She was dressed in her normal outfit, but she didn't have the same vibrant, room lightning smile she normally did. She had a hard look on her face, and he could see her blinking back more tears.

"Verity… are you okay?" He asked her.

It was a stupid question. Jason knew that she wasn't okay, but he didn't know anything else to say. It wasn't the first time that he had seen Verity after she had argued with her mom, but it was the first time he had to help her without his mom. Verity slowly walked down the steps in-front of him.

She took a shaky sigh and looked up at him with a smile. "I'm okay, thanks Jason. Now, come on I wanna get out of here." She said, starting to walk down the road.

Jason started next to her. "Yeah, the faster we go the faster we get to Jubilife City." He said, trying to sound upbeat.

Chimchar even climbed over and hoped onto Verity's shoulder.

"Chim, chimchar!" It said happily.

Verity managed a small laugh and scratched Chimchar's chin before it hoped back over to Jason's shoulder.

She sighed and looked up, with the tear still in the corner of her eyes. She didn't look sad however now, she had her thousand dollar smile back.

"The sooner we get to Jubilife City, the sooner I win my first contest!" She said determined, pumping her fist in the air.

Jason at seeing his friend get so pumped, got excited himself. "That's the spirit Verity!" He said excitedly.

She smiled and looked up into the bright Sinnoh sky, and then back down to Jason. "Come on, let's go I'll race you!" She said running out past him.

"Hey! Wait up!" Jason said running to catch up to his best-friend.

Episode 2: An Electrifying First Catch!

A/N: Hey everyone! I'm coming at everyone with my very first pokemon fic. Yes, I know I have other stories going on, but the urge to write a pokemon fic has always been in the back of my head and I finally managed to do it!

So, a few questions I wanna answer right off the bat that I know will be asked.

This is in the universe of the Pokemon Games. It will follow the Pokemon Platinum storyline. I know I have Verity as a coordinator, and a rival that's not the traditional Platinum rival Barry, but I thought I'd shake it up a bit and give you guys something fresh!

Verity is based off Verity from the Pokemon Movie 'Pokemon: I Choose You' I just got done watching it a few days ago, and I personally enjoyed it a lot. I really liked Verity's character design, and her personality, even if she is very Misty-ish. So, I decided to base my character off her.

If you want to get a better visual of the characters, for Jason, he's dressed as the default player from Pokemon Platinum. Verity's design is based off Verity from 'Pokemon: I Choose You', and Nolan is basically the Silver/Gold Rival with Green hair and eyes. Not very creative on that I know, but I always loved him as a rival and his design.

Yes, I realize that the two main characters may be seem as acting very Ash and anime like, in terms of their mannerisms being so kiddy. But I want everyone to remember, they are twelve. How would you have acted if you were Twelve and got a pokemon haha. Don't worry they'll mature as they age.

Finally, I know i have Dawn and Lucas in different roles then the games in this Lucas is already a Sinnoh League Champion and Dawn is a top coordinator. I knew i wanted to tell the story of Pokemon Platinum since its my all-time favorite game, but i thought it'd be boring to just give you Lucas and Dawn and Barry as main characters, so i switched it up! I hope you like it.

So, I really hope everyone liked this! I will continue it if it gets a good response. Tell me what you thought in a review! I'm really determined to write good battle scenes. Let me know what you thought, and if any of you veteran pokemon writers have any advice on writing battles, please tell me! I love hearing how I can improve.

So, what do you guys think of Jason and Verity? What do you think of Nolan? What do you think/want potential teams to be? Tell me that and anything else you want in the reviews! Thanks so much for reading!
