Everyone was in the living room Meagan and Conner in one chair with Garfield at their feet in a bean bag chair brought in for him because of the lack of seating, Robin was sprawled on the couch and Artemis sat in the corner taking inventory of her arrows. Everything was relatively calm. As Gotham schools got out early because of a snow storm and happy harbor started break yesterday. Sadly though central city high school was still in session .Which explained the lack of corny pick up lines, and a full fridge both of which, screamed of Wally's absence.
"Kid flash b03"
The zeta barely had enough time to finish announcing his entrance before Wally came running in full speed his sneakers smoking
"Turn on the TV. channel 2 now!"
The abrupt statement caught the team off guard as the speedster was usually the last to raise his voice they sat stunned.
"Are you deaf? Turning on the freaking television!"
Conner recovering first leaned over and turned on the TV to the demanded channel.
"In other news it seems that in Connecticut a mass shooting has occurred.
A man who's name has yet to have been released supposedly shot his own father. then proceeded to drive to Sandy Hook Elementary School where he shot and killed twenty students ages five to ten,- The room fell silent all eyes on the screen . No one dared speak in fear that they would miss something.
-and two teachers both female the first being his mother the principle and the second a kindergarten teacher. Before killing himself.
Wait we have just gotten word that the death count continues to rise! The two students that were wounded in the shooting but lived are in critical condition and are not expected to survive."
After the last part everything sort of smeared together like a water color left in the rain.
Megan sat as a stone with silent tears streaming down her face, Conner sat with a barely caged fury at human violence and Garfield was in the same state as his sister. Wally on the other hand was vibrating at a dangerous pace he looked ready to explode his face was redder than his hair which Artemis would have teased him about any other time but she sat clenching her fists robin was more vocal about his anger …
"no. no. no! How did this happen where was the league? Those poor kids they were so young how could how? We are heroes why didn't we do anything? "
no one really heard him though as they were all thinking the same thing…
(Twenty, twenty kids. NO twenty babies all excited for Christmas, enjoying their parties, counting down the hours tell they could go home. To loving families, warm hugs and holiday joy.
Gone. All gone forever silenced. Never to smile or laugh again. never to play in the grass or unwrap a present , feel the excitement of prom or their first kiss , never to graduate high school or college never to find true love or have children all cut short .With the sharp sting of a bullet by a sick monster who has no right to be called a man .
Who? who is cold enough to look a five year old little boy or girl in the eye see their fear their pure terror and still pull that cursed trigger still watch the light drain from their eyes to destroy their innocent view of the world ? )
after sitting in silence for a good twenty minutes Wally spoke
" suit up " he said this with an authority that no one could question
" we are going to pay our respects to the young innocent lives lost today " and with that they got ready loaded into the bio ship and took off .
this is an authors note I know I need to update scars of the song bird but please bare with me I will start updating much more frequently now . I just felt this needed to be written merry Christmas, Hanukah, or whatever .
