I drag my feet over to my desk and dump down my bag next to it. "Alright, settle down class. We've got a full packed morning!" says Mrs White, with her typical english accent. I look over at Luke, who grins at me. "Okay, today we will be starting with science, please get out your text books." she says. I tug my science book out of my bag. It is then when I realize I am tired and exhausted. Yesterday I stayed up late video chatting with my best friend Melissa overseas. My eyelids feel heavy and they begin to droop. Just as they are about to drop, I catch Luke staring at me with a warning look. Don't fall asleep in class! You know Mrs White! I can hear him say in my head. I quickly snap myself out of it. Too late. Mrs White has caught me. "Didn't have a good nights sleep?" she growls. "Ill see you after class Ms Avedon,"

After class, I watch as Luke leaves, he gives me a signal that he'd wait outside. "Jade Irene Avedon. You know what I am going to give you, right?" her voice stays calm and steady. Normally when adults use your full name, you're in trouble. "Yes," I say, looking down at my feet. "Ill see you in detention," Mrs White says. She leaves the room, giving Luke a formal nod.

I sit down on a bench during recess, with Luke by my side. "She hates me." I say with bitter sadness. "Well I've gotten 4 teachers to hate me in one day, thats got to be some sort of record!" says Luke. I laugh and punch him playfully on the arm.

"What's that?" Luke says, looking behind me. I turn. There is nothing. Oh wait, there is something shining, some piece of glass or something. He is always interested in these kind of things. Even when it's just a snail shell. He got up and headed over to where it was. "Its a broken piece of a mirror," Luke says as he picks it up. He examines it and then touches the glass. "Woah!" he exclaims. "What is it Luke?" I ask curiously. "It- it rippled!" he says. I frown and take the mirror from his trembling hands. I touch the glass and sure enough, it ripples like water would do.

"Wow...that is so weird!" I say. "Yeah!" he takes it back from me and examines it again. "Jade, there is writing on the back, but I can't read the handwriting," Luke says. "Alright, hand it over." He gives me the mirror piece and I look at the back. The writing is very unclear but I can just make out the words.

I read it out: "Im stuck in here, please help me. Say the words "Mirror mirror" please..." I frown. "What does it mean?" Luke says.

I wish I had an answer to that.

I sit down in detention, wondering what I could be doing right now instead of this. Oh I wish I didn't fall asleep in class, this is only the second time I've been in detention.

Finally when Detention is done, I meet Luke by the school gate ready to walk home. "I think we should do it," he says. "Do what?" I ask. "Say the words in front of the mirror, maybe it will do something...magical." "You think so? Maybe we should give it a try," I agree. Luke leans the mirror against a pole and we say together, "Mirror mirror," Nothing happens. "Well we shouldn't get our hopes up next time," he says. "Yeah,".

He picks up the mirror and touches the glass again. It ripples like before. But then Luke sticks his hand right through the mirror, and I gasp in shock. "It feels...weird!" he gasps. I take the mirror from him and stick my hand in too. There is nothing in the mirror, though it is really strange. "Maybe this is a magic mirror! Maybe we should find the other pieces to the mirror so we can go inside it!" he exclaims.

This mirror just get's even more weird.
