You hover in the air for what seems like forever, your very existence becoming almost visible in the way your muscles tighten, how your legs spring forth and relax as you leap for the sun, attempting to grasp it in your calloused yet magnificent fingers. In those seconds as I run with all I've got, I understand perfectly how you feel.

How you live.

How we do.

Time moves even slower as you begin your descent back to the mortal world, the prize you sought so valiantly for held close to your chest. For a fragment of forever, I catch your eyes looking back and a smile bigger than anything anyone could ever do explodes on your face, lighting up the field more vividly than a star going supernova a million times over. It's impossible to hide the smile you infect me with and my eyes watch you through the green tint, never letting you go just as much as you'd rather die than let that ball go from your clutches.

We play a game, you and I. We don't know what the prize is or when it'll ever end but we hope it never does. We don't know if anyone will ever tell us to stop or if anyone will ever play it as good as we do but that doesn't matter.

We're still playing the game and every time I breathe or blink, I know I'm winning. How could someone who feels the way I do ever be on the losing end?

I hope you're score is as high as mine and from the way you still keep your eyes on me, even as you're only inches from the ground, I know you're not losing either.

This game is what makes us who we are and it is in this game that I found who I want. Who I need.

It was in this game that I told you I loved you.

Touch down.
