Blood
So much blood.
Blood stained the ground and drained into the river, turning the water red. Blood stained the pile of corpses and the hands of their murderer. The blood had even seeped into the sunrise, the red in the sky reflecting the red on the Earth with a gruesome perfection so that the sun appeared to be shedding tears of blood. The hill too wept over the loss of life, the blood of the innocents running down it's slope, giving the illusion that the very ground wept along with the sun.
A figure stood on the bank of the river, his hands stained with blood that wasn't his own. He stared without seeing at the corpse at his feet. The girl's formally white dress was now stained with blood and dirt, her long blond hair now a tangled mess. The man gaze fell on the bloody knife he still clutched in his hand. The blood on the blade was still fresh, and as the man watched a drop fell from the point of the blade onto the ground between his feet. The man gasped and dropped the knife like it was hot. It had been him. He had killed all the people, he had killed this girl. He fell to his knees and buried his face in his hands. As the tears fell from his eyes, the mixed with the blood on his hands, turning them red. Bloodstained tears fell from his eyes.
"L-Ludwig?" a weak voice called. His head shot up. She wasn't dead? He grasped her small hands in his large ones, his tears of grief changing to tears of joy.
"You're going to be fine." he soothed, pushing the hair out of her face. "We'll get you to the hospital, you'll be ok." She shook her head slowly.
"No, I'm not. I'm dying, Luddy. But before I do, I just..." she coughed, flecks of blood flying out of her mouth as she did. "I just want- no. I need to tell you; You are forgiven. Always and forever forgiven." Her breathing was becoming shallower and her blue eyes were losing their shine. "I love you." she whispered as her eyes fluttered shut.
"No! Don't die, Zelda. Don't die!" Ludwig cried. He pulled her body close and held her to his chest. "Stay with me! Please, just hold on!" He could hear her heartbeats fade, going slower and slower until her heart beat no more. He buried his face in her hair. "I'm sorry. I am so, so sorry." he murmured as he felt the last of her body heat drain away.
I love you too.
This is a request from HetaliaxRussia on Quizilla. They asked for some Germany angst, with the prompt, "Bloody tears". If you want to make a request, message me the details, and I'll do my best!
