A tale of Dobby's - continued

As Dobby made his way to Hogwarts, he made up his mind that he would be the best-performing house-elf in Hogwarts.

"I will be the best-performing house-elf in Hogwarts!" he declared happily. He walked into Hogwarts, wondering where he should head. He saw a house-elf and decided to follow it.

And he arrived at the kitchen of Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Seeing the many house-elves there, he intelligently concluded that this was his workplace.

"Hello, house-elveses! Dobby is here to work!" he announced happily.

The house-elves all looked up at him curiously. Their curiosity quickly changed to disgust.

"Dobby wearing clothes, I see?" an Old, Sneering House-elf drawled. On him was a Slytherin pillow-case.

"Dobby is even getting paid!" Dobby said proudly.

There was a roar of astonishment. Cries of disapproval were shouted heartily.

The Old, Sneering House-elf spat onto the floor before cleaning it up. "YOU, Mr. Dobby," he said as if Dobby's name was a swear word, "is a very bad house-elf. We do not want you in the kitchens of Hogwarts. LEAVE!"

"LEAVE! LEAVE! LEAVE! LEAVE!" the house-elves chorused repeatedly.

"DOBBY WILL LEAVE!! DOBBY LEAVES!" Dobby's heart felt tragically broken. Tears seeped out from his eyelids. Mr. Dumbledore didn't tell Dobby the house-elves at Hogwarts wouldn't like him! Dumbledore didn't tell Dobby.(here he choked) Dumbledore didn't tell Dobby that Dobby would be told to leave! Dobby trudged out to a Tree Somewhere and sank onto the muddy ground. Pounding the earth, oblivious to how wet it was, he wailed until something dawned on him. Dumbledore TOLD Dobby Dumbledore would see him at Hogwarts. He gasped. What if Dumbledore couldn't find him and panicked? Dobby wouldn't want kind old sir to panic! Dobby made a decision.

He would go back.

Quietly, he slipped into the kitchen. No one noticed him at first, but after a while the Old Sneering House-elf spotted him. "Back, are you? Disgraceful creature."

Dobby didn't say anything. He was going to keep quiet, bear the taunts and do his job.

Dobby iced cheesecake after cheesecake, then sliced them by magic. As he continued his job indifferently, he suddenly heard a hiss. "Pssst! Over here!" Dobby turned quizzically towards the direction of the voice. A house- elf wearing a Hufflepuff pillow-cover beckoned to him. Dobby darted over.

"Hello!" he said.

"Hi," the house-elf said shyly, "I'm Killy."

"I is Dobby" he said, beaming, "Hello Killy."

"Hello Dobby," she replied.

"Are you wanting to be my friend? No one wants to be mine," Dobby said sadly.

"Don't be sad," she said dismally, "I'll be your friend!"

"You will?" Dobby said, astonished.

"Yes, I will," Killy smiled.

A/N I know this story's really OOC, but hmmm. let's play pretend, shall we? Oh, and if I don't follow the book exactly, forgive me. I forget when Dobby goes to Harry and tells him he's working in Hogwarts and I don't have the book. Can someone tell me? Or should I classify this as something like alternate universe?
