Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites

The moon shone through the tall trees and shrubbery on my body and the bitter wind nipped at my clammy, tired skin as I ran. I didn't know where I was going, as I had long lost the small trail by veering to the right in hopes of throwing of my pursuer who was not deterred. The shadow that turned all to coldness and despair still followed close behind, and had been getting ever closer since, even biting at my bare feet and ankles on occasion before it finally consumed me.

The forest surrounding me dissolved into a black haze and the bitter wind went frigid. The sudden change in temperature made my already burning lungs ache more and my body cease up, causing me to fall and gasp for breath in the suddenly thin air surrounding me. My eyes darted around me for a sign of escape, which I found in the form of a small break in the haze directly above me about twenty feet away.

"Yes, oh my god… Salvation!" I mumbled softly.

I ignored the ache in my fatigued muscles and got to my feet and jumped, beating my previously injured wings as hard as I could and ignoring the pins, needles, stabs, and high winds. With a few hard strokes, I got to the break and squeezed through, but only managed to get my upper torso through before the haze turned into a vacuum, pulling me back in and burning my wings with something that could only be described as pure hell.

I fell harshly back to the blackened ground and landed on my stomach and chest. Hot tears began to flow easily down my face as I scrambled around on my scratched hands and knees, looking for anything to use as a hiding place; even while knowing my efforts were futile in the unforgiving haze. From behind came a slightly distant growl, making me freeze. Another growl, this time slightly closer and to my side, and I sat down and curled my knees to my chest to use them as a mediocre shield if necessary.

Once more, my panicked, blue eyes darted around in fear and adrenaline as the lashing winds suddenly died completely. Although it was deathly silent, the ringing in my ears and the fast-pacing of blood in my body sounded like the boom of thunder in a summer storm. Deafening…. Although, it didn't last long. A moment later, the winds picked up again with just as much force, except now they circulated around a singular point from which a pair of eyes emerged. A pulsating, unnatural, and utterly terrifying shade of violet.

The eyes began to slowly float towards me and a figure began to slowly take shape. "Privet." The winds impossibly got fiercer as a hand extended towards my face while I sat there, frozen in fear. "You don't need to hide, my friend…" The hand rested itself under my chin and lifted me up to a standing position, staring directly into those violet eyes that, up close, didn't seem so hostile anymore. "…For I am just like you."

The winds died down completely once more, leaving it just as silent as a few minutes ago. Yet this time, it wasn't deafening, but rather comfortable as two surprisingly warm arms wrapped themselves around me and a pair of soft lips captured my own.

A/N: This was inspired by the Skrillex song "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites." Alfred is the sprite/fairy here and Ivan is the scary monster, obviously. And if you're wondering why Alfred is outside in the dangerous forest alone at night, it's because he did something wrong and as his punishment, had to go and get water for the family at night.

This is my first fan-fiction that I have posted, and it is also my first attempt at making a darkish theme, so go easy on me, please…? Sorry for the (probably) really crappy ending, and I hope you enjoyed!

Review, Please? :D

FLAMES WILL BE USED TO HEAT MY OVEN TO BAKE MY FUDGE BROWNIES. THANK YOU.
