It had become El's tradition to ask Mike what a word meant every night over their walkie talkies. As El was exposed to the normal word, she picked up words and phrases that she had never heard before. Of course, she could have just asked Hopper, or looked up the word in the dictionary, but when Mike explained things to her, her brain felt all tingly. He always made sure to put things into terms she would understand, and she loved that.

One day while watching her soaps, El heard the word: "Marry". She kept a note of it, and knew it was going to be tonight's word. She kept the word with her all throughout the day, during lunch and dinner and finally when she laid down on her bed. She reached over to her dresser and pulled the device from it's normal place.

"Mike?"

"Yeah, El?" Mike replied.

"What does marry mean?" She asked.

"Like marrying someone?"

"Yeah, I guess." El said as she twisted her curly hair around her finger.

"It's when two people that are dating think they have found the perfect person, someone they really love." He explained. " You have this thing called a wedding, it's like a party- but not really, and during the wedding you get married to a person, and you spend the rest of your life with them."

"Mike?" El asked again.

"Yeah?"

"I want to marry you."

A/N just an idea I had that I needed to write, hope you enjoyed.
