Welcome to my first fanfic. I've decided to start with some oneshots before moving on to bigger stories. Please enjoy, and be gentle with the reviews.

I personally don't think this story came out as I wanted it to, so my apologies if it isn't too good.

"Hol' up guys, I'm gonna check out this buildin' for supplies."

"Alright, don't take too long Ellis." Rochelle shouted back.

Ellis entered the two story house and began searching, while thinking about how he and his newfound friends had come to where they were today. Fighting through an infected mall, barely surviving a twisted carnival, and traversing a dangerous swamp had led them to a small, rainy town.

He searched around the lower floor, listening to the pitter patter of rain on the roof as he did so.

"Nope, nothin' here…" he muttered, "Guess I'll try the second floor."

He climbed the stairs and went into the closest room. He checked out one of the rooms, and was checking out a fallen cabinet when a familiar wail sounded from behind him.

"Aw crap! WITCH!"

His mind raced. 'How did she sneak up on me?' 'What am I gonna do?!?'

The witch sobbed and slowly walked towards him, and stopped as she noticed him.

"Well, looks like this is it…" he said, preparing for the end as the witch approached. He closed his eyes.

After a few seconds, he realized that he was still breathing. He did feel hands on him, but they weren't ripping his eyes out. This was odd.

He opened his eyes, and was shocked to see the witch…was hugging him.

"What th-"

The witch held him in a bear hug, crying into his shoulder. Ellis hugged her back, deciding that now was not a good time to deny someone comfort.

The witch continued to sob. Was it possible that all this time, all they wanted was a friend? "Urm, you okay m'am?" Ellis questioned curiously.

The witch just hugged him harder and continued to wail.

"Hey, you're hugging too tight…", she hugged harder.

"Whoa, what're you doi-!"

Snap.

The witch looked up. Noticing that the person had gone limp in her arms, she immediately knew what had happened.

She stifled a sob and quickly hid the person in a closet in another room. Why did this happen to everyone she met?

Feeling alone again, the witch started to tear up again, which eventually became a waterfall of tears. She was about to cry out in depression when she heard the door downstairs open.

"E-ellis, hon? You okay?" a girl called out. The witch heard the door quietly shut and footsteps walking up the stairs.

Maybe this time, things would turn out different.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to post reviews with helpful suggestions, tips, or comments. Once again, sorry if this story didn't turn out to well. I'll write some more soon, so if you liked this then look out for another soon.
