Pepper's eyes glistened as she walked to the park. Even though it was past midnight Pepper kept walking anyway. 13 years ago today she lost someone she loved.
Flashback
A little girl of 3 sat on a cold plastic chair in the cancer wing of the hospital. Her dad was in the room where her mother lay in a bed dying of breast cancer. Pepper didn't understand that though she thought her mom was just here for a long check up. Sometime later Pepper's dad came out with tears in his eyes. "Daddy where's mommy?" asked Pepper frowning at the look that was on her dad's face. Virgil Potts got down to Peppers level and said with sadness in his voice "Pepper Mommy is gone honey….we won't see her for a long time"
Pepper found the place she was looking for. Pepper sat down on the swings and a sad but happy memory hit her.
"Come on Pepper! That's right kick your legs!" Sarah Potts laughed along with her daughter as they got higher on the swings.
Pepper sobbed loud enough she didn't hear that someone landed a few feet away from her. Tony rushed over to the crying Pepper. "Pepper! Please look at me!" Tony begged Pepper sniffed remembering early that day when Tony tried to talk to her but she ran off to upset. Pepper looked to find that Tony was kneeling in front of her. "What Tony?" asked Pepper standing up. "I wanted to make sure you were ok…." Tony said standing up straight facing pepper. "I'm fine Tony. Just leave me alone!" Pepper said walking away. "No I'm not going to leave you alone Pepper. Your upset and its late I don't want anything to happen to you!" Tony said as he chased Pepper who was walking away.
Pepper stopped and turned to face Tony "really?" asked Pepper blushing "Ya really Pep" said Tony blushing himself. "Can you please tell me what's wrong?" asked Tony putting his hand on her shoulder. Pepper's eyes filled with again "I….I…My" Pepper couldn't do it she just collapsed but felt arms catch her. "Pepper shhhh it's alright…" Tony said sinking to the ground holding Pepper as she cried. "No its not! She's dead! My mom is dead-" Tony just held her tight and said " Pepper it happened a long time ago it's time to move on" Pepper crying quieted "How?" she asked Tony shrugged " you remember all the Happy things about her and take notice to all the happy things around you now." Pepper looked up at Tony "What happy things now? My grades are slipping. Whitney is being a lot worse to me. You-" Pepper cut herself off blushing. Tony smiled and hugged Pepper tighter "I'll tutor you, I'll make Whitney back off, and for the last thing-"Tony cut himself off but he didn't blush he just kissed her. Pepper was shocked but soon melted into him.
Tony stood bringing Pepper with him "Come on I should bring you home" Pepper smiled and walked with Tony holding his hand. What Tony forgot to do was turn off his phone when he was talking to Rhodey. But Rhodey wasn't on the phone anymore he was currently doing the jig in the armory because his friends were finally together.
