Five figures, all clad in red, blue, yellow, green and black raced through the darkness of an alley and into an old large garage. The five stopped and looked around, with lights shining from their helmets.
"HEY! WE KNOW YOU'RE IN HERE!" The one in red called out, "Come out, right now!"
The five figures stepped into the light, only provided by an old fixture. The five were superheroes, clad in spandex and helmets—Power Rangers.
Okay, the guy who designed it insists that it's not spandex, but, whatever.
The Red Ranger looked around for a few moments and, once he decided it was clear, removed his helmet. Seventeen-year old Ash shook his hair out of his eyes. "Geez," he said, "Where'd that monster go?"
"Come on, Red," Blue Ranger Jimmy McAndrew said teasingly as he took off his helmet and smoothed out his brown hair, "Don't get yourself all worked up!"
"He always gets like this," said May, the Yellow Ranger.
"I hope that's just a joke," said Black Ranger Toya Kinomoto.
"Well, coming from May, I'm not too surprised," said Green Ranger Drew.
"Jimmy, please stop," said Ash.
"What?" Jimmy asked teasingly, "It's not like we're gonna see Misty or anything." He elbowed Ash's arm jokingly, earning a dirty look from his Red Ranger. Jimmy's Cell Shift Morpher beeped, and he pulled it out of his satchel on the side of his belt. "Yeah?"
"Enough with the wisecracking, Blue," said the voice on the other side.
"Oh come on, Commander Fury—"
"You're SHIELD agents, I appreciate some wisecracking, just not that," said Commander Nick Fury. "Now get to work!"
"Yes, sir," Jimmy groaned.
"Boy, Commander Fury's gonna give you a tongue-lashing," May cracked.
"He already did," said Jimmy.
"Then let's get to work," said Ash, "May, you come with me. Drew, Toya, you guys search upstairs. Jimmy?"
"Yeah?"
"You're lookout."
"Ah, for cryin' out loud." He muttered something about Ash being a party pooper and picking on the transfer student from Illinois while parking himself near the entrance.
Ash and May searched the bottom floor for the monster they were chasing. The bottom floor was filled with old machine and car parts that piled up here and there, making excellent places for a monster to hide in. For that reason, they had to keep their guard up extra carefully. They didn't have their helmets on, but their Nitro Blasters were pointed at the old parts and junk, just in case.
"I hate this," said May.
"Hate what?"
"That monster's around here somewhere," she said, "And now he's the hunter."
"Don't say that, you'll only encourage him!" Ash whisper-shouted.
"It's amazing you've turned into such a serious leader," May joked.
Upstairs, Toya and Drew opened the occasional room, looking for movement. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Nil. It was getting frustrating, and it showed on Toya's face. "This is bullshit," he said.
"What is?" asked Drew.
"All of this," said Toya.
"Don't tell me you're—"
"No, I like doing this," said Toya, "Searching for that monster is bullshit."
Jimmy sat in the doorway, muttering under his breath about how he felt mistreated in the team and all that. Why must the Blue Ranger always be picked on? It didn't make sense, the Blue Ranger's always an important part of the team. Or maybe it was just him thinking he had some kind of persecution complex and Ash was just getting tired of his shitty wisecracking. In all likelihood, that was probably the real reason for Ash making him do this.
Something caught the corner of his eye. He turned and stood, looking out into the alley. His eyes widened. "Oh, ssshhhit!"
Ash and May were still having no luck. They'd already started searching the piles of junk, hoping to find that monster in the piles. No luck. This was what sucked about being a SHIELD agent: Having to look for the threat instead of letting it come to them. But, this wouldn't have happened if they hadn't made a mistake and let the monster escape while screaming something about how they were involved in the wrong battle (every single monster said that).
Ash heard his morpher beeping and pulled it out. "What is it, Blue?" he asked.
"RED, WE GOT SAILORS INBOUND!"
Ash froze. May could hear Jimmy's screams in the cell-phone shaped morpher and promptly donned her helmet. "Not them again!" she said.
"Right," said Ash, "Jimmy, you call Toya and Drew, we'll meet up in the front of the garage."
"GOT IT!"
"Come on!" Ash said while donning his helmet, "Let's get to the front!" May followed as Ash ran to the front of the garage.
They missed the monster emerging from its hiding place.
The Sailors in question were not the Senshi of Tokyo, but a new set of Soldiers operating her in Cerulean City. The four ran up to the old warehouse, stopping several feet from the entrance. "Is this the place, Flora?" asked the blond, yellow-clad Sailor Thunder.
"It has to be," said the brown-haired, green-clad Sailor Flora. "This is where the monster was going."
Sailor Flare, the red-clad, reddish-blonde-haired second-in-command glanced over at Flora. "I hope you're right," she said. "Ocean, what do you think?"
"It has to be this place," said the blue-clad, orange-haired Sailor Ocean. I have a bad feeling about this, she thought, slipping back into Misty.
"Alright," said Thunder, in real life Caitlin Miller, "Let's go!" Thunder led the Sailors into the warehouse.
Flare looked around, pulling some of her hair out of her face and back into her pixie cut. The other Sailors also looked around, but the place was still and quiet. Of course, anything can happen in a situation like this, so they naturally kept their guard up.
But the Power Rangers were waiting for them. No, there would be no brawl, but do expect a verbal fight. "What are you doing here, Sailors?" Ash asked as he and his teammates stepped out of their hiding spot to confront their rivals, "We were fighting this monster first." His eyes turned to Ocean, whom he could've sword looked like Misty.
"Power Rangers," said Thunder, "Get out of here! This is our fight, not SHIELD's! How many times do we have to tell you this?"
"Ah, fuck off!" Jimmy replied, giving them the finger, "Go running back to your princess, you over-glorified bodyguards!"
"WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" Thunder shouted. Ocean and Flare had to hold her back from tearing the Blue Ranger apart, "You take that back about Sailor Moon right now!"
"Fat chance!" he replied.
"Any force that threatens Earth is SHIELD's problem, too," said May, "We're on your side, so please, stop telling us this isn't your fight."
"You don't understand," said Flare, "They're our enemies, and our enemies, only. It's best if you stay out of our business."
"She's right you know," a menacing growl interrupted. The Rangers spun around and were confronted by a large, wolf-like, bipedal beast stepping out of the shadows to get them. "Leave now or I—"
"Kill us?" Ash interrupted.
"EXACTLY!" The wolf monster swung its massive paw at Ash. He jumped out of the way, and May came in to punch the monster right in the snout. Jimmy was next, sweep-kicking the monster off his feet and allowing Drew and Toya to stomp on him.
"Too slow!" the monster grabbed both their boots and threw them both to the side before standing up to face the Sailors. "Down with the Moon Kingdom," he said.
"Supreme… THUNDER!" Thunder called.
"Flamethrower!"
"Tidal… WAVE!"
"PETAL STORM!"
The Sailors all released their attacks at the wolf monster. The monster jumped out of the way of Thunder's attacks, but Ocean's and Flare's hit the target easily.
In the chaos, Ash jumped up and kicked the Wolf monster in the stomach. The monster grabbed his leg and tossed him a good distance where he collided with Ocean, sending the both of them flying through a wall and out of the garage.
"RED!" May called out.
"OCEAN!" cried Thunder.
But the wolf monster was not going to let them go after their respective teammates, grabbing a Ranger and a Sailor, and tossing them to the side and made sure they stayed right where they were.
Misty's whole body ached, except her head. It was pretty lucky that even though her head was exposed, it didn't hurt. Must be some Sailor or Moon magic that kept her safe from those injuries. She could hear the fight going on in the background, but here and now she recognized that she was laying on top of the Red Ranger.
She groaned and lifted herself off of him gingerly. There were going to be bruises. That much she was certain of. Her blue, knee-high boots already hid some from earlier fights. Being a Sailor wasn't easy, especially when their enemy—who still did not reveal who they were—was gunning for her and her comrades.
But there was something about the Red Ranger that intrigued her. She couldn't see his face, but his voice sounded familiar, like Ash's. It couldn't be him, he was too big of a doofus to be the badass leader of a team of superheroes. But now that they were alone, she had a chance to find out what he was.
She chastised herself. She was about to break the main rule of the Superhero Code—always keep the identity secret. Too bad curiosity got the better of her.
The 17-year-old Sailor reached for the Red Ranger's helmet. She felt around and found a button in the spokes of the wheels on the side of his helmet. She pressed that and found his helmet opening. "Let's see who you are," she said. She gently and carefully lifted it off, keeping his head stable in case he was really injured (which, if she could tell, was not that big an issue).
She gasped, stood and dropped his helmet. "No way," she said.
The Red Ranger was indeed Ash.
"I can't believe this," she said in disbelief. "No, this couldn't be him, it's—oh, jeez!"
Ash started to stir. He opened his eyes and saw Ocean staring at him. He quickly jumped up, covering his face and pointing his Nitro Blaster at her, his eyes blazing and boring into her with rage. "Did you see?" he demanded.
"See what?" she asked.
"Don't lie to me," he growled, "WHAT DID YOU SEE!?"
"NOTHING!" she denied.
"Don't lie to me," he said.
"Ash, I didn't—" She stopped herself before revealing too much. But the damage was already done.
And Ash lowered his hand as he got a good look at her. "No way," he said, coming to the obvious conclusion, "Misty!?"
"What's going on?" she asked, "Why are you the Red Ranger?"
"Why are you Sailor Ocean?" he asked.
"Touche," she replied, "Apparently, I was chosen."
"I chose to be a Power Ranger," he replied, "Nick Fury approached me last year to help him take out Team Rocket."
"Oh," she said. She stepped closer to him, her eyes pleading, "Ash, please, tell them to stop," she said, "This is our fight. I don't want you to get involved."
"We already are," said Ash, "And we're not going to stop." He may be a serious, badass Power Ranger, but deep down, he was still the determined and enthusiastic boy she knew.
"Ash, you're in over your head," she said. She knew that wouldn't stop him.
"I don't care," he replied. Bingo. "Tell Sailor Moon or whoever's in charge that SHIELD is involved in this fight, even if there's some old grudges involved."
"You haven't changed a bit," she laughed.
"And you still like me," he said, giving her a smirk that while just a smirk, was still so much like his old toothy grins. He grabbed his helmet and ran into the warehouse to fight the monster.
"OOOOWW! UNCLE! UNCLE!" Jimmy screamed as the monster grabbed his leg and twisted it in ways it was not meant to without breaking any bone or muscle.
"I might as well kill you Power Rangers first for interfering!" the wolf monster growled. His foot was pressing down on Sailor Flora's ponytail, making her squirm and writhe in pain. "Don't worry you Moon Kingdom scum, I'll get to you, too!"
"FAT CHANCE!" Jimmy spat.
"In that case," the wolf monster twisted Jimmy's knee even harder, earning an agonized cry again.
Toya and Drew ran up to the wolf monster, only to be punched away. It was the same with May. Attacks from Flare and Thunder did nothing, as the monster ducked to avoid them both. "You have all met your match," he said, "This is—AAAH!"
A blaster shot and a torrent of water struck the monster, throwing him forward. Ash/Red and Misty/Ocean ran back to their respective comrades. Both teams surrounded the wolf monster. The following action was teamwork, whether they liked it or not.
"Blue, are you okay?" asked Ash.
"My knee hurts," Jimmy said while trying to walk it off, "What the hell were you and that Sailor doing, anyway?"
"Shut up," said Ash.
"Ocean, were you—"
"Don't we have more important things to worry about?" Ocean interrupted Thunder's question.
"Hey, don't you forget who's lea—"
"Guys, monster!" May interrupted their internal squabbles.
"Alright," said Ash, "Let's get him!"
Ash rushed the monster first, throwing punches and kicks at the monster. The monster blocked the punches and kicks, but Jimmy punched him in the snout while hobbling on his aching knee. It wasn't easy. The monster almost got to him, but May was faster, punching him in the stomach. Drew stepped in when the wolf monster tried to get to her and Toya finished off the melee by tackling the monster.
Now that the Rangers were out of the way, the Sailors had an open shot. "Supreme… THUNDER!"
"FLAMETHROWER!
"Tidal… WAVE!"
"PETAL STORM!"
Their attacks consumed the monster. But once the dust settled, they saw that he was still alive. Enemy monsters of the week were never easy to beat. But now it was time to end it.
The Rangers summoned their main weapons. They combined the Street Saber, Turbo Cannon, Rocket Blaster and Turbo Axe and placed May's Zip Charger into the Turbo Cannon. "RPM Enforcer!" they declared. Ash put his Engine Cell into the Turbo Cannon and with the help of his teammates, pointed it at the wolf monster.
"Come on!" Thunder called out, "Are we going to let them hog all the glory? Supreme… THUNDER!"
"FLAMETHROWER!"
"Tidal… WAVE!"
"PETAL STORM!"
"FIRE!" Ash shouted, pulling the trigger. The RPM Enforcer's projectile hit the wolf monster first. The Sailor's attacks combined into one big attack that when they hit the monster, destroyed him on contact,
As the dust settled, both superhero teams took one last angry look at each other before they started to leave. But Ash and Misty lingered for a moment before both ran off.

"Ah, those stupid Power Rangers!" Caitlin complained in the loud hallways Cerulean High School, preventing anyone from hearing them, "Did they have to stick their noses in our business again?"
"Come on, Caitlin," said Gina Rose, who is also Sailor Flora, "They were there first."
"Why are you turning against me?" Caitlin groaned.
"Um, I dunno," said Misty.
"I'd rather not say anything," said Denise Richards, AKA Sailor Flare.
"HEY! Caitlin!" they turned and saw Jimmy McAndrew hobbling up to her with an excited look on his face. "I just found out my dad can take me to the football game on Saturday, you wanna come with?"
"Go away, McAndrew," said Caitlin.
"Caitlin, that's not nice—Jimmy, what happened to your leg?" asked Denise.
"Ah, I got into a wrestling match with someone last night and they twisted my knee too hard," said Jimmy. That, unfortunately, rose Denise's suspicion, but she turned away when she saw Kinomoto walking past her.
At lunch, Misty was unsure if it was a good idea, but she worked up the courage to go up to Ash, who sat at his table with Jimmy, May and Drew. She took in a deep breath and tapped him on the shoulder. "Oh, hey Misty!" he said when he turned around, acting like the big doofus she remembered him to be.
"Hey, Ash?" she asked, "Can we talk? Alone?" She ignored Jimmy making a kissy face, only to get slapped by May.
"Sure," Ash said, getting up.
She led him outside to a (hopefully) secluded spot outside the school building under a tree. Misty stared Ash down, unhappy with the stupid and dense look he was giving her. "Why do you keep doing that?" she asked.
"Keep what?" he asked.
"Interfering!" she replied, "Ash, this fight is for the Sailors, not the Power Rangers!"
As soon as she said that, she could've sworn he became a completely different person. He wasn't the lovable doofus Ash Ketchum, but the serious Power Ranger commander. "It's our fight, too," he said, "They attacked the city. We're going to stop them."
"You're not listening!" she said.
"Oh, I'm listening!" he replied, "I just don't care!"
"Why won't you care!?" she shouted.
"Because I'm doing my job!" he replied, "I joined SHIELD a year ago to help them take out Team Rocket. They offered me this Power Ranger job and I took it. And as a Power Ranger, I'm sworn to protect this city, enemies or rivals be damned!"
She never expected that to come out of Ash's mouth. But then again, the attitude was Ash through and through. "Ash," she said softly, walking towards him, "I just don't want you getting into things you know nothing about. I was chosen for this because I can handle it. The enemy is our enemy; not yours."
"Like I said, I don't care," he said.
"Ash," she stepped up to him. She wasn't thinking as she reached up and gently stroked his cheek. "I don't want you getting hurt."
"Thanks, Misty," he said, "You always cared about me."
He really was Ash. She laughed, running her hand through her hair. "You're really not going to stop, are you?"
"Nope," he replied. "I guess we've agreed to disagree?"
"Yeah," she replied. "Okay, fine, go ahead, Mr. Badass Power Ranger, but don't come running to me when you get blown to smithereens or something.
"Okay," he said, "I have to go back now." He walked off, waving at her in the process. She stood there, shaking her head at how little and how much he'd changed at the same time.
"He knows," a small voice said. Misty turned and saw Sailor Moon's old feline aide Luna standing on a tree branch.
"Yeah, he does," she said.
"Why didn't you—"
"Because he just said why," she said, "Once he puts his mind to something, he's going to do it."
"What about you?" asked Luna.
"What do you think?" Misty asked, "I have a duty."

The end
This one-shot is sort of a last hurrah for a fic idea I had a while ago, combining Power Rangers, Sailor Moon, Pokemon and a French fan project. I did get permission to use said project's characters, but it's likely that permission has lapsed so instead, the characters are my OCs. The idea is that Power Rangers and Sailors cannot get along, since in essence, they're completely different kinds of superheroes. There was quite a lot of stuff I wanted to get to, but since this idea is abandoned, that's not going to happen.
Ash, May, Drew, Toya (from Cardcaptor Sakura) and my OC Jimmy are Power Rangers under the employ of SHIELD. Misty and the three OCs are Sailors continuing Sailor Moon's fight. There's a sense of mystery abound in this, so don't expect a full explanation. Ash might be a little OOC, but hopefully in a believable way.
