The Darkness Within

What if the king of Pokelantis had left a remnant of his darkness in Ash's mind? Something that fed off of Ash's darkest thoughts, his most twisted emotions, and amplified and multiplied into a horrible other. A twisted parody of who Ash is, and something that he must constantly be aware of. This is the tale of two opposites, forever trapped in the never-ending swirl of madness.

1. Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Begin

A/N: So… this is my very first fan-fiction ever and it's somewhat of a way to get my poetry ideas and stuff out of my head and just somewhere. I might occasionally work with my lovely sister, BestBeyGirl, for some of these chapters so I don't know how different this thing is going to be. I also might eventually do some story chapters, not just all poetry. I rated it T just to be safe, as well as because I do plan on incorporating some stuff leaning more towards the horror genre. Anyways, enjoy!

In the Dark, There is Light

He never went away.

The darkness I deny,

The inner beast that I kept inside.

I see those eyes as I sleep,

Keen as a wolf to find any weakness I have.

He cannot leave,

And I cannot destroy him unless I destroy myself.

(… and as selfless as I am sometimes, I still can't do this.)

Breath

In… Out.

(Breathe)

In… Out.

(Keep him in, in, in.)

In… Out.

(Safe again for one more day.)

I can hear him, in the back of my mind.

(Always screaming, yelling, thrashing in the cage I've built.)

I won't give in,

(I'm stronger than him… right?)

I can't have any doubts.

(Ignore the whispers until they vanish…)

One day it will be okay again.

(Because when I finally die, he will too.)
