AN: Hmm, another multichapter... Meh, I just couldn't resist! Okay, I'm not going to give myself a goal like 30,000 words or something, because last time I did that I was pressuring myself and ran out of ideas quickly. So, my goal is to get the story to what I think it's full potential is, and to try to make a really great story! I don't know how organ donation works, so this might not be completely accurate in that aspect but I hope you enjoy anyway. Chapters will be longer than this, this is just an intro type thing to get the ball rolling. Rated T for minor bad language, also maybe some kissing later in the story.
Just so you know, I'm going to start taking prompts! :) So if you have an idea that you'd like to see me write, you can leave it as a review on this story, or another of my stories, or PM me if you want to, and I'll do my best to write it. Preferably for one shots, but if there's something that is a multi chapter and I see it and I get an idea for it, I might make it into a pretty short multi chapter fic. Note, the prompts do not have to be Clace, but I don't really want something like LukeXClary or something, I find that disturbing and will not write about it... Sorry for blabbing, here it is!
I sat in the waiting room, minutes until I was to be prepped for surgery. I had recently signed up to be an organ donor, but at that moment I wasn't exactly sure if that was going to work out for me. Sure, I really wanted to help people and of course I would go through with it since it was waaaaay too late to back out, but I was scared. You know, the type of scared where random parts of you are shaking and fidgeting that you didn't even know could shake (what are you doing, ears?) but you're just too goddamn scared to give a crap? Yeah, that kind of scared.
Also, my wonderful brain had just decided to give me the thought that within a few hours a part of my body would be removed from said body and then put into another human being. Goodbye, Kidney #2... You will be missed.
Then again, it was kind of cool. I, Clarissa Fray, some random girl with ridiculously carrot colored hair, would be helping save a life, or at least make sure someone had a much greater chance of living. I stared down again at the information paper I had been given. His name was Jace Wayland, and he'd had Chronic Kidney Failure all of his life, which would hopefully stop after the operation...?
Soon, a kind looking nurse ushered me into the operation room. He shot me a smile and said good luck before he shut the door for the last time before I would be missing a kidney. I wondered if it was too late to turn back. What a stupid question, yes Clary, it was way too late to turn back.
"Nice to meet you Clarissa, I'll be your surgeon today and Dr. Madanka will be Jace's. I don't think you've met him, so here he is. Jace meet Clary, Clary meet Jace. Now then, basically all you need to know is that by the end of this operation one of your kidneys will be inside him and his old one will be served as lunch in the cafeteria."
At my horrified expression, the doctor assured me it was a joke and said he'd give me five minutes or so to get ready and introduce myself to Jace. At that name, I looked around the room confused before my eyes settled on a slight figure sitting on one of the beds. Thin and pale, the space under his eyes was darker than the night. If I little shocked by his appearance at that moment, then I audibly let out a gasp when I saw his hair and eyes. Gold gold gold, strands of spun gold tumbling from his had and a molten version of it for his irises. There was nothing hidden in those eyes. Not that he was an open book, they were just... Empty. It was kind of sad, but also intriguing, like you could look at them for hours. I vowed to buy that guy a cheeseburger afterwards, well not immediately afterwards since we'd probably be incapacitated, but sometime afterwards since he looked like he definitely needed it.
I wouldn't say I was dumb, but I wasn't quite the quickest person in the world so it took me a minute or two to analyze all of this and I snorted at myself when I realized he'd just been watching me stare at him, probably thinking I was a weirdo.
"Well, now that you seem to be done staring at me, I think we're just about ready to get this show on the road. Thanks for the, y'know, organ and everything. That was pretty helpful of you." I chuckled at his sarcastic tone and went to respond when the doctors burst into the room and whisked Jace and I onto the separate beds before calling in the anesthesiologists to knock us out. They say you're supposed to see black spots, but my whole world was enveloped in a gold glow before everything went dark and the doctors presumably started cutting me open.
AN: What'd you think? Reviews are very appreciated because I'm still slightly unsure of this one and feedback would be great. Thanks for checking it out! Also, don't forget to leave a prompt if you have one. I hope you guys liked it! Next chapter should be up soon, most likely within the next couple of days or so, maybe tomorrow if I get a snow day. Once again, thanks for reading and see you all next time! Bye! P.S. Was it too gross? I don't know, maybe the last sentence was a bit too much...
