Habit
By Shattered Glass of Frost

Ryoma wasn't sure when he started this habit or even why it started. It wasn't even apparent until he left Japan and started playing in the US Open.

He was seeing Tezuka in every opponent he faced.

It didn't matter if those players weren't even Japanese. He had easily found a similarity to Tezuka in every one of them.

His first opponent had a cold, indifference gaze that looked like his buchou. The illusion soon broke though, after the beginning of his ruthless play. His next opponent had a serve like Tezuka, but would never have the skills to amaze Ryoma like Tezuka did.

His third opponent had Tezuka's eyebrows. It didn't matter if the hair was blond in colour; the shape of the eyebrow was exactly the same. The next opponent's drop of sweat traced his face the same way it had traced Tezuka's face during a serious match.

He even found similarities in his opponents' coaches. He couldn't help notice how one coach had crossed his arms the exact way Tezuka did or how another coach had the same confidence in his student like Tezuka had in Ryoma.

Ryoma didn't understand it at all. It had started to confuse, even scare him, when he realized he was thinking about how the player across from him has the same curve in his elbow as Tezuka and how his lips looked similar to his buchou, but never the same.

He had no idea when he came to know so much about one Tezuka Kunimitsu.

When he went back to Japan, he was surprised to find all the Seigaku regulars waiting for him. Then he saw Tezuka, the slightest smile grazing his lips, and thought he understood a little better.

Author's Note: I got inspired by Pillar Pair Revolution, so I just started writing in Math class. Don't really know where it came from though, but I thought it was a lovely idea. P
