Seven Captures Seven Executions

Pearse

Were seven might souls fighting for the Green White and Gold

Seven revolutionary men already to give their souls

For the almighty and the green white and gold

All set to die by the evil hand of England

To be shot by British troops who enjoyed the sport

Using these seven revolutionary men as target practice with targets over their hearts

So the British soldiers wouldn't miss and see them take their last dying breath

Shot as night was breaking into dawn

So nobody would ever even think they could rebel against the British

Since England ruled Ireland with a cold hearted iron fist

As Thomas J. Clarke, James Connolly, Joseph Plunkett, Thomas MacDonagh, Sean Mae Diarmada, Eamonn Ceannt and P.H. Pearse

Was shot to death by the English

In Kilmainham Gaol Jail in Dublin through the heart

They knew all along that they would be getting the hard end of the stick

While their supporters would get off somewhat easy as long as they didn't do something like this again

Their supporters were allowed to die natural deaths while the seven revolutionary men had to die these gruesome deaths

They knew it was coming because of their revolutionary actions

To separate England from Ireland so they could live their lives as they seen fit

As the seven revolutionary men were blindfolded and positioned to be shot

All they could think was their loved ones their families and friends and hopefully that they would one day follow in their revolutionary

footsteps

As their execution dates were set at different times and dates

It all resulted in being shot just before daybreak

So as the seven revolutionary were shot to death and their souls left the earth

And their blood spilled all over the floor in the courtyards of Kilmainham Gaoul Jail in Dublin

Their souls when somewhere the English couldn't touch them and they could live out equality

A place where the British never ruled Ireland in the first place
