Disclaimer: I don't own High School Musical.
Author's Note: So it's 12:09 am and I'm sitting in front of my computer having millions of plot bunny's rush to my head. And 50 of them are about Harry Potter…
Gabriela Montez never liked the spotlight. She didn't like the way it shown in your face and blinded you for the period of your song that you had to sing. Alone. In front of many, many, people. She didn't want to experience that feeling ever again. Nope. She preferred to stay in the back and just blend in with the choir. But being the smallest one of her year, she was always in the front. Where EVERYONE could see her.
Trying to keep her eyes glued on the music conductor and not looking at the crowd, Gabriela saw her parents beaming at her, looking at her proudly, smiling and waving. She ignored them though, keeping her eyes glued to the conductor. People said their lines and soloists sang their songs. People cheered, people laughed, and Gabriela sat there, a huge part of her that was deep, deep, down, inside that wanted to jump up and sing to the crowd and have roses thrown at her, as she bowed deeply, throwing air kisses to random people in the audience. The lights dimmed, and she snapped back into reality, pushing the eccentric imaginary thoughts out of her mind.
Wherever she sat, the spotlight always seemed to fall on her. Not for a long time, just a mere two to five seconds. She squinted her eyes as the light beam traveled across the stage and resting on the lead role. Gabriela sighed in relief as the spotlight passed, not causing her any harm. She mouthed the lines, having memorized them form the practices before and closed her eyes for a brief moment. Where she was the star, where she wasn't the shy girl that she was. Where the spotlight always rested on her.
Authors Note: I know it's very short but the thought came to me when I was in my Christmas pageant and the spotlight passed me. Then…it hit me like! BAM! I hope you enjoyed it…I'm not a huge fan on HSM but my friends are. I'm more the Harry Potter type of girl. I will become a dedicated fan to Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers though! Joe….
Anyways Please Please review! It will certainly boost my self-esteem and make me less self-conscience
