Mid summer, 1889

It's was silent in the streets of Brooklyn. The moon high in the air, when a small candle was lit in one of the flats. A young girl, dressed in boy clothes, carefully tiptoes out of her richly made room, into the kitchen. She packs some food and money, and proceeds to the hall. She puts on her dad's boots, and goes outside. With the fear of waking anyone, she slowly closed the door. Once closed, she ran into the direction of Bronx. She runs very fast, passing all of the beautiful buildings surrounding the place.

After quite some time, she finally made it to Bronx. Not knowing what to do next, she went to the dock, finding a stack of crates, which would protect her for the night. As the moon begins to set, she slept quickly.

Once the sun started to peak from the horizon, she heard some voices. She sat up strait to find three boys in the water. Newsboys, she thought. But then she hears some voices of girls. She sat as still as she can, trying to listen to the conversation.

Hey Hazel! One of the boys shouted to a girl with hazel hair. Take a load of this. He splashes it in the direction of Hazel. Tanner, stop that! Another girl swims to the side. Her jet black hair, which is soaking wet, drops to the back of her neck. Come on guys, she says. You don't to be late or Wildfire will get mad at us. The rest of the group quickly swims to the dock. They change into dry clothes they left on the side.

Before they left, Melissa (the one we've been following) steps behind the stack of crates. The group was about to turn left, when she caught up. Hey, you! The group turns around, trying to find the person calling them. When they laid eyes on her, they looked not surprised.

Hey there little fella, One of them said. What's yeah name? Eh, I don't have one, she lies.

The group looks at her as if it was the most common thing they've heard. But Hazel of them looks suspicious at her. Melissa notices this and asks. What are you staring at? But before she could even finish her sentence, Hazel pulls of her hat that she has been wearing. Blond locks of hair fall down on her shoulders. I knew it from the moment I laid eyes on you. But Hazel doesn't sound mad. Instead, she turns to the rest of the gang. She makes eye contact with the other girl. She gives an approving nod. She looks to the rest of the group, who give her a nod to. The girl with black takes my hand as we turn left.

Thank you for reading this chapter! For my next chapter, I need Newsie-ish names. It doesn't matter if it's for a girl or for a boy. Please help me if you want the next chapter.
