002. Laughter

Severus Snape that thought Harry Potter's laughter was the best sound in the world. He thought just about everything about the boy wonder was good, if he was being honest with himself. Potter had come into the Great Hall after getting off the carriages with the Golden Trio, and Severus could see that he'd changed over the summer; had matured. He had, somehow, miraculously, grown a few inches in the three months that he had been in the Muggle world and his hair had become somewhat more manageable. Immediately Severus had tried to fight the attraction that he was feeling for his student, but as he watched him more he found just how innocent, pure, and good the Gryffindor Golden Boy was. He tried to use that to convince himself that was exactly why he should stop this insane obsession; if he somehow got a chance to be with Potter, 'like that would happen', a voice in his head told him, it would be the wore thing to happen to the boy. Sure the Savior was good and pure now, but any prolonged length of time spent in close proximity to the Potions Master would taint his soul, that innocence would turn dark and he'd see the world in a different light for the rest of his life. They couldn't have that for the wizard who was supposed to finally vanquish Voldemort. Severus hoped that things might change once The Darkest Wizard of the Age was just a piece of the Wizarding World's history, but until then he would just listen to Harry's laughter, witness his happiness, and hope that one day he'd be the one to bring him laughter and peace.
