Sirius: Aniyu doesn't own Harry Potter...which is probably a good thing.

Are You Sirius?
Harry cried out in horror as his beloved godfather was struck with the red beam of a Bombarda spell which sent Sirius flying back into the strange veil. To Harry, it was as if he was watching it in slow motion, though it took only seconds for Sirius to vanish. The emerald-eyed boy ran forward, desperate to pull Sirius back, only to be caught in the arms of Remus Lupin.
Before Harry could start screaming at him, and just as Bellatrix started to gloat, Luna leapt forward and slashed out with her wand.
"Revenio!!(1)"
Luna concentrated hard; the Revenio spell required one to envision the retrieval of something very clearly for it to work. She pictured her spell like a grappling hook, latching on to the collar of Sirius' robes and pulling him back out from the veil.
Everyone watched, absolutely gobsmacked, as Sirius was indeed pulled out from the veil...just not in the way anyone, including Luna, expected.
Sirius came flying out of the veil in nothing but low riding pants and shoes, clutching the bottom of his robes which were being pulled by Luna's spell. His long dark hair was flapping wildly, which did nothing to hide the slightly mortified look on his face as he let go of his robes to crash into Harry and Remus.
There was silence from the rest of the room as Harry, Remus, and Sirius untangled themselves from each other. Once back on his feet, Sirius turned to Luna, who was holding his robes, and spoke with a raised eyebrow.
"As grateful as I am for you saving me, can I have my robes back? It's cold in here."
Harry smacked his forehead with a groan while Remus looked at Sirius incredulously. "Are you serious?" "Why yes, that is my name, but that's not the point."
That led into a rather captivating argument which caused everyone to miss Neville sneaking up on Bellatrix and delivering a swift kick that sent her flying into the veil, after which the boy burst into a victory dance.
And that is how Sirius Orion Black managed to escape death in the Department of Mysteries...er, though maybe escape isn't the right word for it....

Sirius: I'm not sure if I should laugh or be embarrassed.
Harry: I say just laugh; it is rather humorous.
Remus: (smirks) Quite. (puts away the camera that recorded the whole scene)
