With Emma's hand on her bare stomach tracing random patterns, Regina couldn't help but feel a sense of total comfort.
This was everything she could have ever hoped for. It had taken a long time to get here, as they moved from enemies, to reluctant co-parenting, to friends and finally the one night where they gave into their building attraction.
Even after that first time it had been a struggle. She had dismissed it as a one night stand, and Emma, well Regina still wasn't sure how Emma had felt. It seemed like the younger woman had a different emotional expression in the days following it.
One moment she was angry at being dismissed, the next trying to make Regina jealous by hanging out with Hook. But in the end it was the look of sadness that tore the blackness out of Regina's heart. Emma had come to her upset that she had done something wrong to make Regina want to leave her like so many others had.
As much as Regina wanted to believe she remained in control of her own decisions, she had lost that ability the day Emma asked her out for their first real date. Since then she had been a slave to Emma's wants and needs. And she wouldn't trade it for anything.
"Hey babe, why so silent?" Emma asked jolting her back to the present.
"I was remembering."
"Remembering what?"
"Everything that brought us to this moment," she said leaning over for a kiss. "I love you."
