Author's Note: This is a poem that I wrote about Bones. I know poetry isn't for everyone, but if you liked it or can offer any feedback I would LOVE to hear from you!! It's a tad angsty, but it's just the way it happened ;)
Disclaimer: I don't own Bones, Fox does... I know I know...
They ashes they fall round and round,
Floating down like flakes of snow,
Pelting down against the pavement,
Down to the mourners below.
The sirens they wail and wail -
Like crying babies in the heat,
Red colours whirl against the walls,
Mimicking a heart-beat.
Outside the walls there is a man,
Pacing all around,
Awaiting news he cannot face,
He kneels and prays to the ground.
Inside the wreckage a woman sits,
Soot-covered head to toe,
She weeps in a corner, unable to move,
Live or die, she'll never know.
She crawls toward the door,
Smoke filling her lungs like glue,
She thinks of her life, her love, her dreams,
As the flames grow outside her room.
Opportunities that I've missed, she thinks,
Of life, love, dreams, and truth,
Of what I never said to him -
Never said to Seeley Booth.
And what would it have mattered?
I would still be in here now,
Choking last breaths of love and loss,
Life ending in a final bow.
He chokes and gasps outside in the air –
Sputtering in fright,
He had no choice but to leave her there,
On this, a fateful night.
He knows he cannot live with himself,
Too many feelings left to face,
And so he stands to his feet and starts to run,
And his heart begins to race.
He runs toward the fire now,
His name screamed o'er the crackling,
They know they cannot stop him now,
It's not just the fire he's battling.
Kicking the door open now,
As sparks dance 'round his eyes,
He lifts his hands up to shield his sight,
And her name over and over he cries.
Searching desperately around the place,
A place where so many memories had been shared,
His brain capable of only one thought now,
"Temperance how much I care!"
He kicks the door down to her room,
Tears streaming down in paths,
He squints to see a woman on the floor,
Succumbed to fire's wrath.
He drops to his knees shouting her name,
His fingers feel for a heart's beat,
He scoops her up into his sore arms,
And runs out into the street.
Everything in slow motion now,
Like a vision in the mist,
A cheer erupts from a watching crowd,
Like love's once barren kiss.
Once far enough away he stops,
And sets her to the ground,
He covers her face with his large hands,
As paramedics come and surround.
Her breathing shallow, her heartbeat faint,
She opens up her eyes,
And into his she stares right up,
And she fights against the lies.
"Seeley-" she begins to say,
He silences her, with "I know",
He moves down and brushes her lips with his,
Like the soft caress of snow.
The ashes they do fall,
Against the stony ground,
They tell a tale of love requited,
A love not lost, but found.
And there you have it! I'd love to know what you think! Did you like it? ...
