I don't own Sam, or Frodo...wish I did, i heart them so! But Tolkien owns all and I'm glad )
Sam's Story
I saw the fear in his eyes
The happiness long ago past
And yet he smiled his lonely smile
Bringing tears to mine own eyes
As I saw a light deep within; a light that is his own
I knew not then what that light had meant
Only that he was still whole and pure
A simple glimmer of hope renewed
In a world consumed by anger and hate
And happiness a battle in itself
With strength only found in hope
I knew it was the end
The end of what? Even the wise could not tell
It did not matter – not then, not now
Yet it set my mind
It became my story for a moment or two
As I climbed that mountain side
With the weight of my dear friend and hero
The ring his burden and he, mine
I played my part for him and him alone.
