A Change of Heart
Chapter 1
As she walked down the path toward the forest, she couldn't help but wonder why she was feeling the way she was. She had spent many a night pondering why her feelings had turned from one of love to friendship. She also couldn't help but wonder why she now held feelings for his elder sibling when she should have still been burning with her feelings of desire for him. Kagome's eyes darkened further as her thoughts became wrapped into a cyclone of lose and confusion. "Where did all of these feelings sprout from?" Kagome pondered aloud. Her steps remained steady as she continued her journey toward the village where her friends resided while she had been away, visiting her home. Raven hair swept across her face as the wind blew hard toward the west. The west, it only made her continue her thoughts about the lord who resided there.
Upon reaching her destination, Kagome was greeted by her group of friends. Sango, Miroku and Shippo sat together in the hut looking excited about her arrival. Inuyasha, however, tried to pull off a look of indifference. Although, he wasn't fooling anyone, my-self included. "Hey guys!" I said cheerfully. I really was happy to be back even if I was only gone for a few days. "Are we ready to head out again?" I couldn't help but ask. It was getting later in the day, but it seemed that we still had some light to travel by. "Of course we are ready Ka-go-me." Inuyasha said in his usual gruff tone accentuating each syllable of my name. I knew it was his way of telling me he was sick of waiting around. I could only glower in reply. I have a life other then collecting the shards you know, was my thought upon his impatient comment. "Okay, okay, I get it Inuyasha, I'm ready to leave when you are" I commented back in one of my more exasperated tones.
Within moments we were on the road heading toward an area in which a jewel shard had been supposedly seen. My thoughts, which were once again in a jumble, came to a halt when Inuyasha and the rest of the group came to an abrupt halt. Scenting the air, Inuyasha released a quiet growl signaling to the group that something was off. Kirara who was resting in Sango's arms, also released a small growl upon hurtling herself toward the ground and taking up an alert stance. In the next instance we were greeted by something I was not prepared for.
To be continued…
