This is my first fanfiction ever and I wrote it in the middle of the night so dont give me a hard time about it. Also, I know its short-I'm not creative enough to make them long. I'd love to get lots of reviews and if you see any typos, PLEASE TELL ME. Hope you enjoy, XD003AMO.

The First Date

I finally have the courage to ask him…I just hope I don't freeze up and lose my cool.

later that day

"Hey Shikamaru!"

"Oh, hey, what's going on?"

"I was going to go get some ramen and I…uhh…" Oh no! Stay cool!

"You what?"

"I…I…was…wondering…," then she said hurriedly to get if over with "If you wanted to go get ramen with me and then maybe…go out later or something!"

"…Temari…"

Uh-oh… she thought

"…I thought I was going to have to ask you out! Took you long enough," Shikamaru exclaimed in the most enthusiastic voice a boy of the Nara Clan could possibly use.

They headed off to the ramen shop and each ordered their favorites. They were sitting there waiting for their food when Kiba and Akamaru sat down right in between them. "Hey there!" Kiba said. Akamaru greeted them with a bark.

"Do you mind?" Temari said in a rude tone.

"Oh, you want to sit by your boyfriend?" he asked her smiling at Shikamaru.

"Seriously, will you move now, Kiba?" Shikamaru asked, obviously annoyed.

Akamaru answered with a bark. "Wow, no need to get so worked up-you seem to be acting a little like Temari" Kiba said to Shikamaru. "Anyway, I'd better go see if the Hokage has a mission for me yet-Hinata said she was getting the papers prepared for us earlier. See you later!"

A blond-haired figure appeared from behind the counter "Sorry about the wait-here's your ramen."

"NARUTO?" Shikamaru and Temari exclaimed at the same time. "So you got a job here because you like food, am I right?"

"Yes and no-I made a bet with Iruka-sensei. He thinks I can't hold a job for at least a month. I thought I could and if I worked here I could work someplace I also enjoy eating at-until I found out you don't get free food even if you do work here…not even on lunch break. I just know I'm going to win this bet-BELIEVE IT!"

"There's Naruto for you…now can you please leave us alone now for a little while?"

Naruto eventually went back behind the counter, but not before making kissy faces at them.

"Come on Shikamaru, eat up!" Temari said "I want to go do something before it gets too late"

Afterward, Shikamaru suggested going to his favorite place to watch clouds. "You think that kind of stuff is fun?" Temari asked.

"Well, kind of…but if you don't want to…" he said sounding slightly hurt.

"Oh, no, no. Its fine!" Temari exclaimed overly excited.

When Shikamaru got to his favorite cloud watching spot where he and Chouji had become good friends, he realized Konahamaru and his little friends were playing there. "What a drag…," he sighed. "I guess we'll have to go somewhere else."

When they finally got to a good spot, they enjoyed themselves-Shikamaru and Temari. This is going to be better than I thought it would be! she thought.

They watched clouds until it was too dark to see them anymore. "Well, its getting late so I'd better start heading home. I don't want my mom yelling at me…that would be a drag" Shikamaru said.

"Okay, bye!" Temari yelled to him. What a great day…

Now I know what my dad was talking about when he was telling me about why he would want to be with someone like mom. And when he said that even crabby people have a gentle side. Shikamaru thought.
