(Ryou POV)
It was lunch time at Domino City High School. I stood against the wall, drumming my fingers beside me. I looked around impatiently, waiting for Malik to arrive. He always took forever to come. Sighing heavily in both disgust and latent defeat, my eyes started roaming around the school again, looking for some sort of entertainment to endluge them until Malik made his presence. All I saw were a bunch of no-name kids and Otogi sitting near the soda machine. Honda was nearby, with Mokuba. I saw no sign of the others. Just when I was about to venture into the evil and hideous cafeteria myself, I stopped immediately in mid-step. Several feet before me stood Yuugi, Yami, Bakura, Jonouchi, and Seto. As always, Jonouchi was clinging to Seto's forearm-- he always had to be touching the ice king in some way. Bakura had draped himself over Yuugi and Yami stood, clasped tightly to his hikari. Even though Yami and Bakura were good friends, Yami never seemed to want anyone getting close to his Yuugi other than himself.
He was insane like that.
As I watched him, I felt my heart squeeze and my fists clench beside me. I was not sure why I was so angry, but seeing Yami act the way he was pissed me off to no avail. Why would he constantly hang all over Yuugi like that? Was no one else in the world important to that baka pharaoh? Knowing the answer was no angered me even more.
"Yami-kun no baka." I growled and raised my fist. There was no real knowledge of what would have happened if Malik had not shown up just then.
"HI!" Malik exclaimed, his ultra bubbly/bouncy voice awaking me from my anger and causing me to fall heavily back to earth. Malik must have noticed my reaction because he laughed. I glared up at the blond haired Egyptian. Why was I friends with with him, anyhow? Why were we so close? We were almost nothing alike personality-wise. He was "ultra-fem" and bubbly. I was more drawn to the darker side of anger and mystery. But Malik always cheered me up and took care of me-- and I did the same to him. Maybe that was the reason. "Food?" Malik inquired, looking at me with wide puppy-dog eyes. I felt a smile flutter across my lips.
"Hai." I replied. He could always make me smile; even in the worst of situations. I locked my arm in his and we walked towards the cafeteria. My mind soon returned to Yami and the others. Following my mind, my eyes went to see what the "gang" was doing-- but they were gone. Upon Malik and I reaching the cafeteria, I glanced inside to see them all (plus Mai) at a table; talking, laughing and eating. I pulled Malik away from their area subetly as we fell into the line to ingest the disgusting and nasty stuff they dub 'cafeteria food'. Something about Yami's affection for Yuugi pissed me off-- and I did not want to be around him.
