Hey everyone ! Here's a small OS about Buffy & Faith ! It's the first time I write for BTVS. I haven't watched the show in a very long time, but I read some stories, all great !

She remembers their first encounter. The first time she laid eyes on her. Their unbreakable bond that unnerved her and yet amazed her. She remembers their friendship. And she can tell exactly when everything went to hell. She will never forget the face she made when she stabbed her in the stomach. Her words still echo in her head, today more than ever.

"You killed me."

As she studies from the corner of her eyes the woman walking beside her, Buffy realizes that she's the one dying now. She remembers when Faith used to call her "Girlfriend". It made her blush at first, then giggle and smile. She was so used to hear it that when the other slayer stopped giving her that nickname, it almost made her feel empty. Faith went on the dark side afterwards. Buffy never truly believed that the brunette was a bad person. Maybe she should have said that out loud back then.

After many years of constant fights, jail and own personals demons, they had finally overcome it all. The Hellmouth had been shut down, once and for all. They were free. No more slay. Just two young, broken women.

It's very naturally that they decided to rebuild their friendship. Much to her surprise, it had quickly turned into something more. To be honest, Buffy had always known that Faith felt something stronger than a simple friendship for her, but at the time it didn't matter. She thought it was lust. But it became love. And before any of them realized it, they had fallen for each other. In love.

They chose to forget about the bad things they had said and done to each other and only focus on the good. And it worked, for a few months. But Faith's inner demons and insecurities had caught up with her and their relationship had taken a toll. And suddenly they were back to fighting, shouting, hurting. It had to end. They both knew it.

That's why they're here now. It's dark already, and they've been walking in silence side by side for the past hour. Faith stops, and Buffy knows it's time.

"Faith…"

"Just say it, B."

"I… You know I love you, right ?"

"Just go to the point. I want to hear it."

"We tried, Faith. It was simply too hard."

"Say it."

"It's over."

Buffy's eyes are full of tears and she can see that Faith's brown ones are shining too.

"I'm so sorry, Faith..."

"It's okay. I was never meant to be happy anyway. You just achieved what you failed to do years ago. You know, killing me ?"

Buffy doesn't answer. Her eyes never leave Faith as the brunette quickly walks away, becoming a shadow in the shadow.

And as the blonde slayer slowly turns round and leaves, she can't help thinking that the greatest love stories are always the saddest ones.
