Forgotten Moment

A flash of light signals coming dawn.

An acknowledgment that I was wrong.

My guilt sends me to my knees,

Wracked with unspoken apologies.

Sorry for the way I lied.

Sorry for the things I hide.

You put up with all my worst.

My faults laid out in a black-tinted hearse.

Begging forgiveness for my sins,

The truth of the matter starts creeping in.

For me it's too late to seek atonement;

I've been stuck in a forgotten moment.

A/N: I wrote this poem for a class. That's actually where I did a lot of my writing. This poem actually got published, not in a main stream publication, but in a collection of poems from middle and high school students across the country.
