Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. JK Rowling does.
Author's Note: Just a little Tonks/Lupin one shot written during Drama today… the last line in particular popped into my head, and I liked it enough that I felt I needed to write a story for it! Please review, I can see that people have been reading my writing, but hardly anyone ever reviews… is it really that hard to just leave a short review? Also, please vote on my polls that are going at the moment! Thanks, hope you enjoy the story!
I don't know what hit me, but it was like a searing knife that stabbed through my chest.
I am filled with light; it weighs me down, yet tugs and pulls, trying to make me go.
I look over and see him, and my heart aches as I see him struggle to take each breath.
"Remus," I croak, and he turns to look at me. "Are we dying?" I ask weakly, my voice small and scared. He doesn't answer; we both know what's happening, and a single tear drips from my eye. I reach out for his hand, and he reaches too – the small distance between our fingers feels like a mile. I want to go to him, hug him, have one last kiss, but I'm frozen, too weak to move.
"See you on the other side," he murmurs, his lips twitched up in one last small smile.
"We go together," I say, my eyes slipping shut, the last thing I see is him.
"I love you," he whispers for only me to hear, and then the world turns black.
