The Ten Things you didn't know about Rosemary:
1: She had an expressive face.
Her eyes deceive her and the corners of her lips seem isolated from her mind.
2: She was hopelessly tight-lipped, solemn and diverse; bordering on the edge of invisibility.
So she wonders, which is bordering on the brink of positivity, if the females surrounding her, speaking dynamically, are pretending.
And she's just fine with that.
3. She liked to fully comprehend; being resentful to anything that puzzled her.
She resented many things.
4. She craved earnest respect, not the inadequate duplicate that came attached with her father's title.
Now she isn't so sure.
5. She never took The Pill.
Something whispered and told her not to.
But it was immensely difficult. That feeling continued to harass her.
6. She enjoyed being the Receiver-in-Training.
She finally felt like she was above everyone. It was exhilarating.
7. Her father was convinced- or maybe he convinced himself- that happiness was her favourite emotion.
She lied.
Sadness was the emotion she related with best.
So then finally, finally, The Pill didn't seem alluring any longer.
8. Weather was perhaps her favourite memory to familiarize herself with.
It felt like the sun was kissing her face, the wind hugging her body and carrying away her troubles. But best of all, it felt like the heavens were weeping with her.
Now, she thought exasperatedly, if only people were more like the weather.
9. She was a coward.
So she couldn't take it.
10. She knew her father, with everyone else in the community, realized that she was at the medical clinic, applying for release. And he was watching.
The corner of her lip turned downward as she spotted the camera lens.
She imagines the next Receiver, a male possibly, escaping the community like she has.
Her eyes close as she winces.
Tonight it shall rain blood.
She gets her wish.
