"Are you sure this is what you want?" she asked him.

He kept his head down, not willing to look into her eyes. If he did, he knew he would tell her the truth about his feelings.

"Yes, Miss Granger. I'm quite sure."

Hermione felt her eyes fill with tears. "I don't want to give up on what we have, Severus! Please, tell me that you love me."

Severus Snape's head shot up at the moment, and he glared at her. "Do you have any idea what you're asking for? I'm the wanted murderer of Albus Dumbledore! I have the entire world against me!"

"But I believe in you! I know you wouldn't have done it without a logical reason!"

"You know nothing about me!"

The small room they were in suddenly become silent as they glared at each other. They both knew from the beginning that a relationship between them would never last, yet Hermione was unwilling to give up easily.

"You silly girl," he said. "not everything in life has a logical reason. What if I were to tell you that I really did wish to kill the old fool... what would you do then?"

Hermione's eyes widened as she shook her head. "No, you wouldn't-"

"What would you do, Hermione?"

"You're not a Death Eater, and you-"

"What would you do?" he shouted.

"I don't know!" she yelled back as silent tears fell, "I just don't know."

He suddenly captured her into a passionate embrace. His lips upon hers, kissing her with all he was, and telling her wordlessly how much he cared for her. After what seemed liked hours, their kiss ended, yet they remained in each other's arms.

"We can not go on like this," Severus whispered.

"I know."

"We'd both be thrown into Azkaban if we were ever caught together."

Hermione nodded and then looked up at him, glaring. "I hate you Severus Snape."

Severus said nothing as he let her go, taking a few steps back. "I must go," he said when he finally spoke, "before anyone suspects anything."

"Okay," Hermione said, looking away from him.

He took his wand out, getting ready to Disapparate, "I'll see you on the battle field, Miss Granger." and he was gone.

Hermione stayed staring at the spot he had Disapparated from, as if willing him to return. She knew in her heart that he would not. Why would he? she thought wiping away a stray tear. Clearing her throat, Hermione stood tall and walked out of the empty room. Going down to the bar of the Leaky Cauldron, she asked for a Firewhisky, not her usual drink, but she needed to calm her nerves. All the while his voice rang in her head... I'll see you on the battle field, Miss Granger.

With new determination, she took a big gulp of her Firewhisky and vowed that she would indeed see him again, and he would regret the day he ever toyed with, Hermione Granger.
