Please don't kill me. I promise that I'm in the middle of the next chapter of The Fencing Excuse, but I needed to write something else before it drove me crazy. Thus, this drabble was born. It's short and sweet, and hopefully I'll finish Excuse soon. Other than that, keep an eye out for my new project, "Les Appartements de Retrouvaille" AU. I'm super excited for it, and once I post the first piece of it, I'll explain what it is and how I hope to write it. Let me know what you think!

Hers was on her back. Squarely centered on her spine, nestled between muscled shoulder blades. She, like everyone, had had hers since birth. It was a circle, divided in half by a swirly line. Her soulmate had that exact same marking.

Marinette grew up loved by her parents, matched by their copied marks on their left forearms.

Marinette also grew up wondering who she shared her mark with.

His matched her, though they didn't know it yet. Every time he saw her, his mind was mixed with the ecstasy of seeing her and the frustrating need to know if there was a mark on the back, a circle and a line. Like a Yin-Yang symbol.

Adrien grew up with a broken father, mismatched and with a mark faded from vibrant black to dull grey.

Adrien wanted to know if he and Ladybug, good luck and bad luck, creation and destruction, literally Yin and Yang, shared their marks.

It took them years. The intricate balance of love and friendship and trust between two soulmates and four identities takes time, but love does tend to take its time.

But they knew when the time came, they would be ready. Chat never pushed, he knew his Lady would be ready one day.

When it finally happened, it was a night like any other. But it was a night that would change their lives

"Chat, I need to know. I can't take wondering anymore. Can we share our soulmate marks?"

Chat beamed at her.

"My lady, I thought you'd never ask."

So off they went, hand in hand, to change out of their restrictive suits. Each shared their soulmate marks to the other, back turned to their partner for them to see and to hide their own identities. Adrien goes first, to see for his own eyes that Ladybug was his soulmate. He turns his back to let her do the same. She stops to view the exposed back of Chat, marked only on his spine, right between his shoulder blades

"It was you, all along," Marinette breathed.

"It was always you, My Lady," Chat whispered back.

He turns to Ladybug, both superheroes keeping their eyes closed shut. They rest their foreheads together, noses brushing.

"You ready to meet your soulmate?", asks one half.

"Ever since the day I knew I had one," says the other.

Together, they open their eyes, and together, they meet their other half.
