JARVIS is the first to identify the presence of an unknown spiking energy.
It's a Wednesday night and the Avengers are scattered around their lounge. They have Steve-enforced team meetings the second Wednesday of every month. Everyone has a room at the tower, but it's mostly a revolving cast in residence so it's fun to get together afterwards for some unenforced team bonding.
Tonight started no different than any other team meeting. Thor, Jane, and Darcy are in South Africa for an eclipse but everyone else is in attendance. Even Pepper managed to have the night off.
JARVIS announces ,"Sir, my sensors are picking up a very large unidentifiable energy source coming from the center of the room."
Before anyone can respond there's a flash of blue light and a giant pod appears in the center of the room.
The Avengers now on alert, weapons drawn, watch as the capsule opens.
"So what you're telling me is we're stuck?" a voice says from within.
"We aren't stuck. We just have to let the circuits warm back up. They're too delicate for artificial heat, just have to let dissipation do its thing. Furthermore-" a young man in goggles is explaining as he climbs out of the pod. "If stars and stripes over there hadn't put out the fire that I had completely under control. I wouldn't have been distracted and this wouldn't have happened."
A different person this time responds, "Yes, because starting an electrical fire in an enclosed space seems like a great idea."
"I was protecting us from frostbite."
"You set the engine on fire!"
"I built the engine! I know how much it can take before it gives out on us!"
"What about third-degree burns? What do you know about them?"
"It was fine," the man says pushing his goggles to his forehead. With a sweeping glance around the room he yells back, "Uh, guys? This is a little weirder than I thought."
"What?" The other voice belongs to an equally young man with light brown hair, taller than the first. "Well," he says, "I didn't expect that. What are the odds?"
"One in infinity. Although we did have to land somewhere. So, it's not unreasonable. Besides, we only had an 8% chance to survive the trip anyway," responds the goggle-wearer. He is young with black hair. His bomber jacket is open and a property of Stark Industries shirt can be seen underneath. "It's like looking in a mirror. Everything is right but opposite."
"What do you mean only 8%?" The first voice accompanies a teenager climbing out of the capsule.
"Who are you?" Natasha interrupts as the three of them lineup in front of the frozen pod.
"Seriously? I'm like the most famous person in this room. You of all-"
His companion cut him off "Not now, Sterling, they think we're hostile."
"Why would we attack the Avengers? It's our legacy. Why are you all aiming at me, do I look like the threatening one? And why does Steve look so young? Jeez, look at that, JJ, he looks like he just stepped out of the Project Rebirth coffin."
"You get one more chance. Who are you?"
"Sterling Stark, Adventurer at your service, Agent Romanoff," responds the first young man. "These guys are Gilligan and Mary-Anne. I'm the Skipper, the Millionaire, and the Professor all rolled into one amazing Movie-Star package. Sorry we crashed onto your island. I have to let my ship get to room temperature before we're off again."
