Controversial pairing! Hiei/Yukina. Don't like, don't read. Could be considered brother-sister love, though. Your choice. Sexual references!
I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho. All belongs to Yoshihiro Togashi. Lucky bastard.
He would have died for her.
That was the truth, yet Hiei let no one know, him denying it himself for a while. Oh, he tried to convince himself, that he didn't care about her, that she was weak, worthless.
Yet, when he saw first saw her, his denial was washed away to be replaced by the lightness of a doe's footfalls on the winter's first snow.
It was then, he mused, he fell in love. Perhaps not with Yukina herself, but with the idea of what she represented. Purity, innocence, and all the things he had to sacrifice before he was even born.
And it was also at that first sight Yukina knew who he was. Her brother.
He didn't know that she had seen him, watching her as she played with the animals. She was kind, not stupid, and a demon. She had sensed his presence the moment he had started focusing on her. She had pretended she hadn't seen him, discreetly watching him from the corner of her eye.
He has the same stature as her, with almost identical crimson red eyes. The only difference was that her eyes showed the naïve innocence a child's eyes should have, and his showed anger. Towards what? She hadn't known then.
When they met mutually for the first time, Hiei wanted to run like hell was hot on his heels away from her. For those almond-shaped eyes so like his own held knowledge and…eagerness?
She knew. Oh gods, she knew. It was only his iron hard self-control that had kept him from fleeing. The eagerness… She wanted him to acknowledge he was her brother.
'Hiei's eyes hold panic. Should I tell him? But he knows. Surely he does!' Yukina screamed in her mind.
She stepped closer to him, noticing he didn't move back like she thought he would have. She leaned in, bringing their faces so much closer, that they could feel each other's breath on their face. Like one possessed, she whispered, "Brother. I've been waiting for us to meet. I apologize, but please allow me one favor, on account that we are blood related".
And she closed that last physical gap between their mouths, and kissed him.
He tasted of the wilderness, of danger, of Makai and all she left behind.
She tasted of freshly cut grass, the refreshing flavor of spring, of what he never had.
He didn't push her away, for how could he? Even then, he had fallen. Like her him.
They were twins, instinctively knowing what the other needed. No other would know them better. More then exposed to each other, they were in love.
When they broke away for air, no words were spoken. Their emotions had been clearly felt in that wonderful kiss. Hiei stroked Yukina's cheek, silently telling her to follow him. She did. They went back to Makai, for what was there for them in Ningenkai?
They mated that night. Others would have disapproved, saying it was wrong, that they were twins, related by blood. Even if they weren't, they should have 'taken it slow', get to know each other before even considering sex and mating.
They didn't care what others said. What did they know? The passion, the feelings they felt when Hiei thrust gently into Yukina would never have been felt with another, not that they would ever be with another. They were their own unique, intricate pattern no one would ever be able to unravel and decipher.
And that was why this night, they both thought, gently tracing their other half's face with their eyes, they would never part. For they had been woven together, into something complicated and difficult and what they never wanted to let go. They are twins related by blood, they know their love is wrong, and they don't give a damn about it. This is their story, what they wrote together, the precious thing they never wanted to part with.
