A/N: Ok so here is a one shot. A short fic of a part in Catching Fire. So this when Gale gets whipped and Katniss is in her room sleeping while Peeta is with Gale. And this is what I think happened. (Peeta POV). I didn't finish my other story but I wanted to do this so yeah. Disclaimer: I do not own anything that has to do with the hunger games trilogy.
Peeta POV
I sat on the chair Katniss was sitting on and looked out the window. She chose him. I know it; I knew she always loved him. The snow was falling down, slowly free to do anything. "Katniss is in her room, right?" it was Gale I didn't look away from the window when I replied. "Yeah," I said. Then quickly added. "She chose you." This time I looked at him, he sighed. "Yeah I know. But she is just saying that." He said, I looked out the window again. "As much as I want to believe she is just saying that I know she loves you." I said calmly even though inside I am hurting. What did I think she would actually love me? Maybe I did. "But saved you in the games." Gale said, I shook my head again. "She just did that because she wanted to defy the Capitol." I said in a low voice, whispering. "She picked you because she loves you. And because if she picked me it would be like if she was agreeing with the capitol. That she is ok with them controlling her. But she loves you." I said, the snow was still falling. Oh how I really was out there. "Throughout the games I can tell you she was thinking about you." I said coldly. I looked at Gale. "How would you know?" He asked me. "After the games she told me she was just acting. When we returned to twelve and she saw you. If you saw her she looked happy she looked like she was ready to jump into your arms and just kiss you." I said bitterly. I started hearing screams. Katniss. I was ready to go up there and help her but stopped myself. She picked Gale. "Why aren't you going up there?" Gale asked. "Because she picked you." And with that I left. Into this unfair world of Panem.
