Peter and Kate had been at Bud's for half an hour before he started to get worried. It wasn't like Megan to simply not show up. Despite all their problems, and fights and her ego, she still cared about Bud and had been looking forward to this baby shower just as much as everyone else in the lab.

When Bud came up to him to ask if he was sure if the good doctor were still coming he sent her a text message. When her reply came in that she had been 'held up', he knew there had to be something wrong.

No matter what he had said to her before leaving the lab, he couldn't help needing to watch out for her. Even with her ego and back-off attitude, he was her friend. The thought that she had stayed behind because of what he had said was eating him up inside.

But still, he waited. Another ten minutes later, she still hadn't shown up. Something was definitely wrong. Bud did not live that far from the lab. And regardless of their exchange earlier, she wouldn't miss out on the big reveal of boy-or-girl Bud and Jeanie would be giving them.

Peter grabbed his coat, told Kate where he was headed and left. He sped across the few roads that led him to the ME's offices.

As soon as the elevator 's doors opened he took the few steps forward toward Megan's office. As soon as he saw her, tied up and gagged, he pulled his gun out and was on high alert. There was only one person who could be here.

During the next few moments, and during the entire fight he had with Wilson, there was only one thing going through Peter's mind, 'thank God I came when I did. I can't lose her too.'

And in the end, with Wilson fallen on the ground below them, an Egyptian hook protruding from his abdomen, and him being held protectively be Megan Hunt herself, another thought took hold of him. 'At least Megan is safe. She's not hurt.'
