(1) It's Love

Mako protects his scarf like he protects Bolin. There are even times when Bolin firmly believes that Mako loves his scarf more than he loves his own brother. Back when they were still living in the streets and it was winter in Republic City, Mako would wrap Bolin tightly up in his jacket, his socks, his blankets but never, never, never his scarf. Bolin couldn't remember a time when Mako's scarf was on anyone other than Mako.

So when Korra complains about being chilly and Mako wraps his scarf around the avatar without batting an eyelash, Bolin knows it's love.
