The door to the basement creaked open. The crack was barely big enough for a skinny blonde Canadian to sneak through. Even though he stepped lightly a couple of the stairs still creaked beneath his bare feet. He stopped near the bottom of the stairs. He pulled a fluffy white blanket closer to his body to try and hide himself from the shadows. What if Prussia was asleep? He didn't want to bother him and wake him up just because he was scared.

"Who's there?"

Slowly Canada peeked around a wall that separated the room from the stairs. Prussia was lying on his side with his eyes barely open. His beautiful crimson red eyes squinted tiredly at him. He felt kind of bad for waking him up. But he didn't want to be all alone upstairs. Canada had fallen asleep while they were watching a movie and had awoken a few minutes later with a fluffy white blanket around him, the same one that he had wrapped around him. He had made the poor decision of playing a terrifying game while alone in the dark. Now he regretted every minute of it.

"P-P-Prussia…" Canada whispered. His voice was so small that he wandered if the albino was even able to hear him.

"I thought you were asleep."

"Only f-for f-five minutes."

The Canadian's brow was furrowed. He shook slightly, it was barely even noticeable. It easily could have been mistaken for being a little cold. "Were you playing that apocalyptic video game again?" Prussia said. He started to give the Canadian a stern look but was interrupted by a yawn. "M-maybe." Canada said. The only light in the room came from the open door, but that was just barely enough to be able to make out the features of Prussia's face. So without much light for protection Canada's gaze kept moving towards the dark shadows of the room. But it was dark in a lot of places, to many places for him to watch all at once. Without his glasses it was even harder to see, which made him even more uneasy.

"What have I told you about playing that game?"

"Th-that it's too s-scary."

"Yet you played it anyways."

"It's f-fun."

Canada pulled the blanket tighter around his body. It was a light color and it made him feel somewhat safer in the dark room.

"Can I cuddle with you?" Canada asked. By the look on his face he could tell that Prussia wasn't the least bit surprised by the question. He sighed and lifted the covers. Except for a pair of boxers Prussia's body was completely bare of clothing. "Get in." He said. Canada practically ran over to the bed, dropping the fluffy blanket on his way there. He curled up next to his lover and pressed his face against his chest. Prussia was warm, unlike the cold remote control of the game system. Arms wrapped around him and brought them even closer together. Unlike the zombies he was caring and safe.

Prussia pressed his lips against Canada's ear. "Why do you like scaring yourself?" He asked. His breath tickled and made Canada shiver again, but this time he shivered with pleasure. "I don't know." He said. A gentle kiss was placed on his forehead. "Well you don't have to be scared anymore. There aren't any zombies because they aren't real. And if there really were zombies I wouldn't let them hurt you, I'd sacrifice myself if I had to. I'll do everything I can to not let anyone or anything hurt you Canada." He said. He placed another kiss on the blonde's lips. "I love you Prussia." Canada whispered. "Love you… too." Prussia said. He fell asleep in a heartbeat. His snoring made at least some noise in the all too quiet room. Canada closed his eyes with a smile on his face, he felt much safer in Prussia's strong arms.
