A/N: Short Breyton one shot. Shows her life 10 years later and how it changed after Brooke died in the school shooting. Also the kiss never happened. Peyton never got together with Lucas.
5 years later.
My best friend Brooke Davis died in the school shooting. My life had turned around. I never got over the pain of losing Brooke when she died. After she died I stopped going to school I flunked senior year and refused to repeat. I shut everyone off Haley, Nathan, Lucas, Karen and Deb. they all tried to help me but the only person I wanted to help over this pain was Brooke but she wasn't here anymore. Yes it had affected everyone but it had affected me the most because I was Brooke's best friend ever since she helped me get over my own mother's death. Brooke is the only one who understands my current. I left Tree Hill because it had all my memories of Brooke here. But I never managed to get over the pain. I never got a job at Sire Records. I lived on the streets begging for money to by alcohol to help mask the pain. I never brought Lucas's book. I also vowed I would never go back to Tree Hill. My pain had started from the moment Brooke was shoot.
Flashback
We had entered the school and Jimmy was pointing the gun straight at Brooke say "It's all Brooke's fault that Luke had stopped talking to him." I tried to calm him down but it didn't work. Instead I heard a shoot. He shot Brooke and she slumped to the ground. I trying to press the wound and reassured her it was going to be okay. But it was too late she died in my arms. Jimmy had then shot himself. I was crying.
A paramedic took me outside. That's when I saw Lucas, Nathan, Haley, Karen and Deb waiting for news. They walked up to me and I broke down saying and sobbing "Brooke died."
That is when I had decided I could never go back to Tree Hill High and I started to skip school. Two weeks after the shooting Brooke's funeral took place, I had attended it but soon after it had finished and the wake had finished I left without saying a word. They tried to find me but they never did I had brought a one way ticket out of Tree Hill. My life changed before my eyes because I never got over my best friend Brooke Davis's death.
