I am so cold.

I have a spark. It is very faint.

It does not reach my long, long limbs.

It does not warm my long dead heart.

They have brightness, they have warmth. I envy them. I hate them. I consume them.

They come for the pages, the eight pages written by the madman. Why do they care to have the pages? I do not know why, and I do not wish to know. But they come like the tiny helpless moths, drawn towards a false flame.

But the real flame is theirs, and I take that flame from them.

The warm flames, the sparks of life, they are the only thing that I desire. The ones I hate have within them the one thing I want. Is that not fitting?

I am so cold, and they are so warm.

I come creeping towards them, always growing closer, as their warmth is made ever brighter by the nearness of the cold, for no spark burns more sweetly than one close to death.

The chase is what I exist for. Feasting on that light as it burns with fear. I need this.

They wander around my forest, looking for the pages. I come creeping closer and closer. Their fear of me makes their sparks burn brightly.

Some try to flee, always I catch them. They run for as long as they can, but they cannot run forever.

Some cower, or find the fear unbearable; their flames do not satisfy me. They give up before they burn brightly.

The last kind is those without fear, the few who can collect the pages as if they have done this before, many times. I hate those ones most of all, they cheat me of my only solace. Their flames do not care for me, and to consume them brings only pain. I hate those ones most of all.

I need all of their flames, I must have them, no matter the pain.

I need your flame too.

I am so very, very cold.

When will you come for my pages?

When?

Must I seek you myself?

I shall. I shall end you. I shall end you all and take the flames.

I am the Slender Man. No one escapes me.

And I am coming for you.

I wrote this oneshot for my friend's birthday. She's one of the coolest people I know, and she's not a cold hearted murderer (at least, as far as I know). I decided to post it here after recently reading Safe and Sound, written by GoldenGriffiness, a story which made me cry.

Safe and Sound is, in all seriousness, a crossover of the Slender Mythos and the Legend of Spyro series. It's a dark and sad story, but beautiful in it's own way, Spyro and Cynder lovers beware: reading it shall distress you.
I'd only recommend it if you enjoy the feeling of sadness you might get when your pet dies, but if you do in fact want to experience that kind of feeling then go right ahead and read Safe and Sound.

I hope you liked this, or at least found it interesting. If so then please do leave a review. I'd better get back to my usual story now, I know everybody likes that one.
