Waking up, I looked around as the airplane came to a halt. Most of my hair was pulled back in a cute purple beanie, hiding my ears as well as I sat up and yawned. Of course, no one else here knew that the 'regular' ears I had were fakes I had bought at a costume store. My real ears were hidden inside my hair net with my hair, which was the same color, making it impossible to tell what was ear and what was hair. But then again, I could tell since my poor rabbit ears were killing me. Yes, I said rabbit ears. Even though it was only 2119, there were only a few people with animal ears and they either tend to be famous or used by scientists as experiments, trying to discover what caused this anomaly. Others, however, have a horrible fate, which I really don't like thinking about since they are sometimes kidnapped and sold onto the black market.

I don't remember what cause me to have rabbit ears. I had human ears, once upon a time, but after my tenth birthday -which I couldn't remember- I have had rabbit ears and strange abilities. Not only that, but my mom and I have been on the move ever since. She says that some men are chasing us and this time, we would come on different flights since they would expect us to be together.

As I walked off of the plane, I set my carry-on backpack down and stretched before I continued to walk. Stepping out into the lobby, I smiled at how nice London seemed so far. This was my first time out of the United States, but it already felt like home. Mom's flight wouldn't arrive for thirty minutes and since the hotel was connected to the airport, I decided to retrieve the rest of my bags and get a room.

"I wonder what Mom is doing right now? Reading her book or on the laptop?" I muttered softly to myself as I grabbed my book bag and suitcase off of the convertor belt. Just as I turned around, I accidentally bumped into a guy who appeared to be my age.

"Oh, I'm sorry." I said, noticing that he had dropped his hand bag. Leaning down, I picked it up and held it out to him.

'Here is your handbag." I said, smiling apologetically. That was when I noticed that he was looking at me in shock. Reaching up, I double-checked and made sure that my ears weren't sticking out before asking "Are you alright?"

"Huh? Oh, I'm so sorry. You just looked so much like a girl I knew once...but you couldn't be the same girl. She left for another country when she was six." he said, politely taking the hand bag back.

"Oh, I'm sure it must have been quite the shock for you." I said, wondering just how many girls with red eyes did he know. Just as I started to heave my back pack onto my back, he raised his hand and shook his head.

"Please, let me help you with your things...My name is Sean by the way. May I ask what your name is, miss?" he asked, taking my backpack and slinging it over his shoulder.

"Oh, my name is Melkorka." I said with a smile, though I wondered if he'd think that my name is strange.

"Hmm...That's celtic, isn't it? If I remember it means Beautiful...Great, you probably think I'm weird now for knowing what names mean, huh?" he asked as we both walked into the hotel lobby.

"Not at all, I actually think it's cool." I commented before I headed over to the desk. After showing my license and ID, I managed to get a very nice room that had a great view of London on the balcony.

Walking into the room, I looked over my shoulder at Sean, who had insisted the entire elevator ride that he could carry the rest of my things.

"Thank you so much for the help, Sean." I said, blushing lightly as I looked down at my skirt.
