Hi everyone!
So this is a poem I wrote after watching Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Because the opening music just completely disarmed me.
It's not my usual fanfiction stories (which I will hopefully be getting back into very soon, I've been super busy with uni for a long time) but I'm proud of it all the same.
I've also written another Harry Potter piece (possibly the best thing I've ever written) about walking around Hogwarts. I entered it in a fanfiction competition on Sweek. There's a link on my profile if anyone wants to read it and I'll drop a link below as well.
Enjoy ^_^
Hedwig's Theme
Your heart swells with feeling at the sound of the strain,
The memories of a world for which you have long held affection
But half-forgotten why.
That first note and it all comes rushing back,
Crashing into your chest to collide with your heart
These people you have loved, and cried for
Lived and died with
The music is calling you home.
You can't help the tears,
It's not rational, not sensible, a childish thing
But the tears come all the same.
It represents so much, that song,
Childhood and moving past childhood,
It is the song of growing up
And the song of never growing up.
Your opinions have changed but the feeling has not
The music is calling you home.
The friends you betrayed,
They beckon with notes
Remind you of times when you needed them,
You thought those times were behind you.
Everything inside you squeezes tight and it's almost painful
How much this means to you
It's almost stupid.
You know what will come, your expectations were low
But so are your defences now.
You remember the world you fell into and never really left
The one that you almost truly believe in
That you can't help but truly believe in.
And what comes after that song is irrelevant
You don't need the after to know where it's taking you
Because the music is calling you home.
So there you are, I hope you liked it.
if you want to read my Hogwarts piece please use this link (without the spaces) web. sweek profile/280721/74088 and the piece is called 'Re-Reading Harry Potter'. I would really appreciate it if you would follow it as well (there's a secondary prize for most popular)
And of course any comments on this poem would be hugely welcome.
Love you all
Love Tibbins xx
